Hi,

I need some advice please...
I currently have an MSI P55 GD65 with an Intel i5 750. I use my PC primarily for gaming.

Would I gain a significant increase in performance by upgrading to a Z68 with an i5 2500K?

I have looked for comparisons between both chipsets but I can't find anything.

No, not really if gaming is your primary use - not enough to justify the cost.

If you haven't done so already i would buy a decent cooler and overclock your present i5.

Can't say it's worth it TBH, I run a similar setup and no game makes my system struggle, can't see that changing for a while yet, I am waiting to see what intel brings next year, then i will do an upgrade.

Plec, I do have a Noctua NH-U12P SE2 Dual Fan cooler installed so I could apply a modest overclock. Nothing like the oc that Hyperst manages with his nice water cooled system though :(

Thanks to both you guys for the advice.
I will save my money and wait to see what happens next year.

well I would say it's possible t get a decent oc, I was running 3.8ghz clock on H-50 cooler before fine at 1.256v core

Thanks guys.
I confess that when I originally built the PC it was my intention to overclock it but I never got further than activating the OC Genie button on the mobo. It oc'd the processor ok (can't remember to what speed though) but it also upped the voltage on my RAM which bothered me a bit so I disabled the OC Genie and I haven't tried overclocking it since then.

I think I'll bypass the OC Genie and try a "proper" overclock via the bios instead.
