Loan Car for a week...

I would actually appreciate an impartial perspective on this - the car has been delayed 3 times and overrun 3 delivery deadlines. There is no finance agreement in place either. Just a deposit.

AFAIK, this would enable me to swap?
Don't see why not.

If you ask them nicely they might be able to stick you on an order list for a Z4 instead.
Do you know if your car has even been built yet? My parents have the same problem with their Golf GTI.

It was ordered in the spring and was supposed to be delivered at the beginning of June, but the dealer went on holiday and the factory will be on holiday too I think, so they won't be seeing it much before August.

IIRC it's not even built yet, so I don't see why pulling out would be such an issue.

It is built but is en route to the UK - they cannot give me a date of collection. Anytime between now and 2 weeks basically. This is the 4th delay and now they are unwilling to pin down a time.

Car is unregistered too.

Fairly popular loan car it seems :D I had one given to me with 6 miles on it. Eg - it had never been used before being driven to then loaned to me.

Was not overly impressed, I also did a little write up. Mine was an auto model however.

135iM book is £35k fully specc'd (irrespective of my deal, if they decided to sell on).
Z4 is £29k on 'used cars'. It will be cheaper yes. Only deposit has been paid so far, final sum has not.

Mega impressed.

Had the dealer on the phone - they will get the 135iM in anyways and will let me look around it, test drive it etc before making up my mind. If I prefer the feel of the Z4, they will order me a new Z4. Otherwise, I just go ahead with the 135.

Couldn't ask for fairer than that really...

can get 1-2 year old AUC ones for ~£30k......id rather a 1 year old 35i than a new 23i personally, especially with the same warranty, but hey ho :D

The wife and I test drove a Z4 23i, Automatic two weeks ago, was powerful enough and responsive but as you say, a pain to park with terrible visability especially out the back, also found it to be cramped and far too cluttered with dials and knobs and the interior colour scheme OTT.

We then went next door to the Merc garage and test drove a SLK 200 Kompressor and found it to feel roomier, slightly better visablity, but still a pain to park... Just as fast and responsive though with not much difference in the 0-62 not surprising, the roof on the Z4 opens and closes quicker, but thats not deal breaker.

I think my sig tells you the rest....

What engine would you get? Surely not the 23i?

You say that, yet i've found the engine very impressive - great power delivery ~4kRPM onwards (feels faster at overtaking that the Elise SC).

It only feels slow in first gear - the change up to 2nd is still jerky as hell and more often than not, when trying to do a quick standing start, the car starts 'bucking' until you dip the clutch and change up to 2nd gear. Very strange as the engine is warmed up and only doing ~2kRPM. Must look absolutely hilarious from the outside.
