50+swimming

Being 53 I would not like to walk into a 50+ swimming session when most people think I'm 38.
Ageist.

Mind you look at it from another angle:
Do you really want to be swimming in all of us oldies unwiped wee & poo?

Private pool is a no go and there is no other pool <25 miles I just fancied a decent swim on day off as weekend it's either shut for lessons or full to the brim I guess being the only pool they struggle to meet demand. But the whole over 50's Annoys me I want a over 30's under 40's session, reeks of agism to me!

Anyway going to go to pub now later so sod it!!

It reeks of providing a service with access for all ages in the community. get over it :)

Where is it providing for all ages? over 50's is excluding a rather large section of paying citizens isn't it.

The pool is available to be used for all ages. It is knowns that older people do not generally like being in the pool with general ****heads so they avoid the place.
Giving a specific time they can go means they actually use the pool.

So yes, it is providing for all ages instead of providing a general access that scares off old people.

Adults only surely would be sufficient ?

No, it wouldn't. A lot of the old people who swim in my pool are slow and generally dont like being splashed. That is in a private pool that is thankfully quite quiet.
In a council gym, where they are a lot busier, even just having more younger adults wouldn't be good enough an environment for them. Especially as most young adults, in groups, can be idiots.

I don't Like swimming when it's full of kids and idiots either can I have a special service laid on for my demographic? adults only and have scricter rules inplace would be fairer than an agist policy of turning away those under 50

Now the female only swimming, that is a joke.

Why? If I was a woman I'd want a time I could go swimming without the risk of being chatted up by idiots.

As for the OP. What is your problem? Council run swimming pools run a variety of programs and some of them don't include certain groups. I'm going swimming after work tomorrow - i cannot go tonight, nor can I go Wednesday. Do I get fired up and rant? Nope, I accept that these services cannot meet my every need at every time.

Move along.

Women only if often for religious reason and just something you have to deal with in a multicultural society.

50+ now that does seam silly.

As a woman, esp one who has only just stopped looking like a curvy hippo in a leotard when wearing a swimsuit, I have to say I find it uncomfortable swimming in a non-female-only swimming session.

I can understand why people who are starting to get / are older, slower and more wrinkly would feel much the same way.

I wonder if any of you men out there would be happier in a men only swimming session!?! I certainly wouldn't be offended if anyone started one up!

pretty sure you can get any group together and get a private slot, so long as you get X number of people guaranteed every week.

losing a couple of customers who come occasionally but gaining say 20 who come every week is better for business.
