Advice on new CPU purchase

Hey,

I'm wanting to invest in a 6 core AMD 1100T AM3 CPU ( http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-277-AM&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=1944 )

I currently have a AMD 955 X4 @ 4.0GHZ which I am using to game on.

Will this be a worthwhile upgrade with gaming?

I would say not at the moment. Very few games fully utilise 6 cores. Some report that their gaming experience has diminished using a 6 core processor. Don't ask me why though. I would hold on till you really do need 6 cores and by that time, they will have come down in price a lot more.

If you look at the games at the bottom, then you will notice that most games stay the same, and some even lose FPS.

In a word, no. Especially the 1100T, no point in getting that over the 1090T.
