Hi,

I've got a Asus GeForce GTX 560 1024MB GDDR5, which is running at stock 810MHz speeds.

Would it be an easy job to overclock this card? I've seen pre-overclocked cards running at 850MHz, but notice these come with a dual fan design - does this suggest the single fan on my card would struggle?

overclocking a graphics card is super easy. download a program called MSI afterburner (which will work on any make of card) and move the sliders to where you think your card will manage.

if the overclock is way too high and very unstable the computer will realise this pretty much instantly and revert back to the original drivers stopping any damage from happening.

if the overclock is a little bit too high it is harder to notice, but if you download a program called OCCT you can run a graphics card stress test which will also record any errors you get during the test.

increasing the voltage on the card will allow a higher stable overclock, but it will produce more heat, so you may not be able to increase the voltage all the way to whatever the limit on your card is. you can monitor your cards temperature during the overclock to make sure it is within a safe range (go to the nvidia website for this information)

all you need to do is keep at it until you get an overclock that keeps the card at temperatures you are happy with, and doesnt get an error in the OCCT test. when you have finished it would probably be best to do a longer test on OCCT just to make sure you dont have any problems.

if you have any questions feel free to ask

Apologies for resurrecting this thread, but I'm currently running OCCT after overclocking my card. I got some errors so have upped the voltage a bit.

It's now been running for 20mins, at a temp of 72C and no errors so far. If there are no errors on OCCT after 1 hour can I assume stability?

I would say so, i always test the overclock in games aswell, that is after using Kombuster which comes with MSI Afterburner.

In rare circumstances, a overclock may recieve no errors, but then crash during games, so best to give your games a bash.

I am trying to tweak my overclock settings with MSI afterburner. I'm a bit unsure about the Memory Clock settings. I've found an article stating that my card's recommended max is 1,100MHz (4.4 GHz effective) but I'm not sure what setting that would be on MSI afterburner. The available range for the memory clock is 1000Mhz to 2605Mhz (with the stock at 2004Mhz), which seems to contradict the 1,100Mhz maximum I read. I don't quite understand this. Is there some sort of x4 multiplyer or something?

EDIT: Also, the voltage bar is greyed out on MSI afterburner, even after I 'unlock voltage control' in settings. Does anyone have any advice about how to adjust this?

Thanks.
