Cleaning CPU/FSH: what kind of alcohol?

I have a bottle of something called "pure denatured alcohol" here. Will it do or should I go grab a bottle of isopropyl alcohol?

It's like/is methylated spirits so may leave a slight residue - but i've used meths in the past when i've not had ipa to hand, it cleans the CPU well and evaporates quickly.

I've even used a fresh lemon and water solution when i've been desperate...

Ive used cd cleaning fluid as well, the type i had contained isopropyl alcohol. Vodka works as well, but dont use the good quality stuff, such a waste.

Well, in fact the good quality stuff will have the lowest solid content and therefore leave the least residue, but I'm NOT using vodka! You people are mad!!! Meths won't do either, I use a meth burner under my coffee maker and it leaves A LOT of residue in fact! Bottom of the pot needs scrubbing to get rid of it even after only a minute's burn! I'm gonna go buy isopropyl, seems like the only solution.

That's carbon produced during a chemical reaction, it won't leave that when cleaning a CPU as it just evaporates which is a phase change.

Hehe, there’s less impurities in the greater filtered/proof stuff plus it’s a good excuse to have a nip.

CPU cleaning kit list:

• Setter's decent vodka supply plus paper towel
