Hey

I was thinking either a GTX 560/Ti or a 6950. Which gives best bang for buck?

I was originally leaning towards Nvidia due to poor ATI driver support in games I used to play, and I have a 120Hz monitor so I could dabble in 3D if I fancy. I can compromise either way.

I also game at 1920 x 1080 with preference of FPS over quality. I like 60-90 minimum even in SP games, and 120 in shooters.

I currently own a 4850 which is going in my HTPC.

Thanks and sorry for boring spec me thread... not upgraded in 3 years so I'm rusty :)

The GTX560Ti and 6950 are pretty much neck and neck in terms of performance, however I think the extra VRAM on the 6950 may help you for gaming at that res.

Just noticed that Civilization V really hate AMD card lol

Oh and Sundance, what CPU you got at the moment? Cause graphic card aside, the CPU has huge impact on the frame rate as well. I think you'd best you post the spec of you PC to let us have a look at, than just thinking tossing a new graphic card into an old machine is a job well-done :P

This is part of a whole upgrade I'm doing, so it will be an i5 2500k :)

Urrgh this is a tough one. On paper the 6950 wins but I may be tempted for 3D :(

1st world problems eh

If you want run 3d in games you'll probably want a graphics card with more grunt than a 560, unless you mind turning down some effects. I'd suggest a 560 if you're planning to overclock (great clockers they are), a 6950 if not (superior crossfire scaling if you get another one in future)
