Gentle Typhoon 120mm 2150 Group Buy - Need More People!

Hey guys, as I'm sure some of you are aware there's a group buy going on at OCN for the newest model of Gentle Typhoon fans (AP-16 / 2150 RPM) . A step up from the AP-15 (1850 RPM).

The barebones fan ordering is closed but we need just under 100 more fans before the minimum is reached on the complete model (this includes a tach wire for RPM reporting).

They are USD13 per fan + shipping + import duties (20%). Consdiering the price of GT 1850s here I'd say it's probably worth taking part in this if you ever plan to buy GTs in the future. This is your only chance to get the 2150 model as Scythe are not redistributing it.

Nidec Servo, a Japanese company, produces these fans but they don't ship outside Japan unless (I'm assuming here now) you buy in bulk. Scythe redistribute Nidec's fans (mainly the Gentle Typhoons) to the international market but for whatever reason they never chose to do so with the 2150 RPM model. This is why it's almost impossible to get ahold of them, and also why anyone who wants these fans now or in the future should jump on this opportunity.

Click here and PM the OP (or post your interest if new there as PMing is limited).

OCUK do not sell any GT's, let alone the 2150 model which no one outside Japan currently resells. The only way to get some is to buy (I assume) in massive bulk quanitites directly from Nidev Servo or know someone personally in Japan. Not only that, but this group buy isn't set up for profit. It's simply an attempt to help the community get fans normally inaccessible to them and I hope OCUK doesn't oppose that :)

In short, this isn't taking away sales from OCUK.

I do hope it isn't considered "rival forum advertising" though <_<

I'm interested for two.

Although can you confirm if these are 3 or 4 pin fans?

Edit my 1850s on my H60 ain't fast enough ;) Plus I like the idea of owning something unique.

I ordered six of the complete fans when I saw this on OCN, pretty good price too especially as you can't get them anywhere else. As for tax, you take your chances that you might have to pay it ;)

There are places in the Uk that have stock.
Email in trust if you want to know.

Just to confirm these fans are 120mm. NOT 92mm.
I did change the title to avoid confusion but it doesn't seem to show up

I'll eat my hat if there is a single 120mm 2150 RPM gentle typhoon in the UK.

These are 3 pin fans. Voltage, ground, and tach wires.

I'll do a little math and give you an estimate cost per fan in £ fairly soon.

Also, bump :)

Edit: as for the cost in GBP per fan..
10 fans @ $13 per = $130
Shipping "up to" $34 (source & source)
Import tax +$26 (20% value of fans)
Duty fees + £12

Works out at £130~ or £13 per fan as an absolute max (for 10 fans). Some people seem to believe you may not get charged tax or duties but I cant promise that.

This goes down the more you buy.

So at £13 per fan you'll be getting a better fan for pretty much exactly the same price as 1850s. Add the standard shipping costs and it's actually a better deal. The only downside is how long we'll have to wait for them.

Edit 2: Customs tax isn't included in the price of the fans or the shipping. If customs deems the shipment taxable it will be held at your local depot until you pay the costs (20% + £12~ fee). I'm pretty sure ParcelForce handle all USPS shipments and payments on the UK side so you'll be dealing with them in regards to the fees.

Pretty sure we are now either at the minimum number or just a few off.

The ordering will be closed on this fairly soon. Get 'em while you have a chance!
