I'm bored (yes who are you /think of stuff to do yourself thread)

He has a valid point about the PS3. My **** of an ex stepdad used to take all the power cables for my stuff (even that I had bought with money from my job) away for not revising, going out, etc. Thank god my mum kicked him out. That wasn't the reason, he was having an affair with next door :(

But I digress, just because you are old enough to have passed your A-levels doesn't mean you can't live in a house with a control freak :(

Any suggestions? (books)
Lee child's Reacher books (dont think he does any others)
Clive cusslers Dirk pitt books (especially the early ones)
early terry pratchett books
peter o'donnel's Modesty Blaise books
Jeffery deaver's Lincoln rhyme books
anything by Robert A heinlein

that should keep you busy for a while :)

as for other stuff to do, what are you studying next year at uni? prehaps do a small project related to that

Yes its depressing, if this is supposed to be the prime time of your life then, I don't know what to say.

Na. Go out and have your fun where you can, but the older I get the more I realise I'm only just starting to really live, enjoy life and be comfortable in my own skin. Then the next year I think the same thing again. :p

We're men. We mature slowly and like fine wine. Or something.

I would second 1984 - it's awsome
I would also sugest 2001 and the followups and one that I've just started reading and am loving it - Flash forward
I've also been working my way through the OH's discworld books, but tbh I found they weren't as good when I was less well read.

It may sound a little kill-joy-ish (althouhg hopefully you've chosen a subject you've got a passion for) but what about reading around the subject you're hoping to do at Uni, it'll put you a little ahead on things for when you get there and make your time there a little easier.

Another thing you could think about doing is learn a new skill: build a shed, learn to carve/sculpt, teach your self to cook (you'll need that when you get to uni and it'll help with pulling women ;) ), take up gardening.... things to do are endless unfortunately most of us only realise this when we don't have the time to do any of them! Also most of these should get you in the good books with your olds!

Apparently I might be helping my dad build a shed soon. But when he says soon it could be a week or half a year :p
