'Next Tuesday'

Assume today is Wednesday 13th July.

When is 'next Tuesday' - the 19th of July, or the 26th of July?

I would have said the 26th, because the 19th would just be Tuesday, no need for the word 'next'.

I believe I do this to an extent... the closer it is, the more it makes sense to just say the day.

Depends how awake I am tomorrow, but normally still call it next Tuesday on the Wednesday before and just Tuesday from the Thursday.

So tomorrow Id make Next Tuesday the 19th.

26th - but with it being wednesday now, I'd make sure that's what they meant, because it's still six days away. But yeah the 19th is this Tuesday.

Tuesday the 19th, btw. It's the next Tuesday. If it was the Tuesday after the next Tuesday, then it wouldn't be... well... the 'next' Tuesday, would it? :confused:

I tend to use tenses thus:

This Tuesday / Next Tuesday = the soonest Tuesday to come
A week on Tuesday = the Tuesday after.

Same here. Tuesday 19th of July would be this Tuesday, the 26th would be next Tuesday.

If today is Wednesday the 13th, then the next Tuesday is the 19th.

Can't see how it could be any other way. It's just stating the NEXT Tuesday.

To me "This Tuesday" means "This Tuesday coming", and "Next Tuesday" is the one after that.

I'd say "next Tuesday" until around Saturday / Sunday when I'd say "this Tuesday"
