Why do people buy into apple BS?

but they have to pay more for less in apple.

My bike was cheap not more

Well no, you don't have to do anything. And 'less' is subjective, I place more value on a better user experience than I do on a slightly better camera...

My point is people chose to spend more money on something slower, with less power and with less features because it's capable of doing what they want

Which is EXACTLY what you have done with your bike. Less money could have bought something faster. Something 'better'. But you placed more value on the experience that that bike gives you.
I'm tired, but I want to see how the thread ends. :(

It'll eventually be locked until the next idiot comes along and starts the exact same thing, calling people like me (who use both platforms) fanboys whilst not realising they themseves are.

Yay.

It does 110 mpg?:D

I'd just like to clarify at this point that the bike I'm talking about is by far the worst bike I've ever had (and I mean honestly, by miles - it's rubbish) and I only ride it because it's our family workhorse and therefore effectively free to me.

And it's still way, way better than your bike, which you paid for with actual money.

Hmmm, I think you'll find though that brand and usability are the 2 key points here.

Apple
Porsche
Ray ban
Montblanc

None of these boast the cutting edge of their particular fields but produce incredibly refined, useable and premium products- doing exceedingly well from it.

Samsung are mushing as much tech as they can into a flimsy plastic box to try to compensate for not having a particularly strong package overall (I.e the underlying software, app store, lack of iTunes store).

I'd rather have a decent selection of apps over unneeded Flash support....

I would say that the iPad is actually more functional than the Galaxy, simply because you can do more with it.

For Example:

Apple need to chill out with the incremental product refreshes that add a front facing camera and declaring it a revolution, Google needs to sort out the retarded hellhole that is the marketplace and Adobe should drown flash in it's own dribble.

I will openly admit I haven't ventured into iOS land yet as I'm a tinkerer, I love to plug gadget A into widget B and see what happens, if it breaks then keep on going until it's fixed again, thus the apple philosophy of ignoring the man behind the curtain doesn't really ring my bell.

Thus Android appealed to me, however my experience with the Desire HD was disconcerting, the amount of data mining I had to disable was shocking, the free programs in the marketplace wanted even more data than Google did, with the paid programs requesting only marginally less.
I also felt cheated, I just bought a brand new phone yet had to fork out even more just to do the things I wanted as the inbuilt programs were laughable, they sure looked nice but god help you if you actually wanted to use them.
The idea of openness and affinity to linux lead me into a false sense of fairplay, I thought there'd be a good base of free everyday computing utilities, with games and custom software being paid for, how wrong I was.

Moral of the story: all of the them have positives and negatives apart from Flash, which can go fornicate with itself.

Heh.

Guaranteed some wannabe smartarse will come along and shout "lolFANBOIIIIIIIIII" or post something about feeling insecure or whatever other rubbish these kinds of people post in some vain attempt at wanting to look cool on the internet.

No.

Everyone likes a hearty joke, well....maybe not apple users when it's about their favourite brand :p

Out of interest what do you propose replaces Flash?

As for people 'buying into the Apple BS' I want to buy into it too, but try as I might just can't bring myself to do it.

The hardware I often find lacking or not suitable for my needs despite the usually high build quality, not to mention the mac pro's extortionately high price tag.

After trying OS X as my main OS for a few days I came to the conclusion that it did nothing better than windows to warrant me switching despite having several features I liked and a few I didn't. Also if anyone knows how to point your Documents folder to one on another drive I'd love to know how.

In all to get the most from the Apple experience I think you would have to use several of their products in conjunction with one and other, but knowing whats on the market right now and what Apple have to offer I'm not read to make that jump.

As far as tablets go they serve no purpose in my life, not powerful enough to be productive, not small enough to be portable, I will stick to my desktop and smartphone.

Urgh, Easyrider, you had a few valid points, but now you're just making a show of yourself and acting like a massive manchild.

You're doing exactly what you're saying Apple users do. You clearly don't like what PardonTheWait is saying, but you're doing the exact thing you're accusing him of doing.

At the same time, I'm really cringing reading PardonTheWait's posts, I can't believe a grown adult is coming out with some of the stuff he's saying, like " iTunes is a very Apple app - it doesn't make much sense to a PC user because it works all backwards." that us full of ridiculous amounts of BS, and is very typical of the things Apple nuts come out with.

How on earth is "iTunes a very Apple app"? How is it backward, and so different that you understand people get confused using it? I'm struggling to see this distinction between "Apple" applications and the rest. I, and everyone I know who uses iTunes, can use it perfectly fine, none of them use OSX, and I can't imagine any one of them would think there's some sort of distinction with it.

You're really not helping with the stereotype that Apple users are often given of thinking their computers and software, and often themselves, are some how "special" and "different" to the rest of the population (yes I am aware this is a generalisation).

All the vague "compliments" you're saying about non-apple stuff is to me, clearly an attempt at trying to prove you're not an apple nut, because an apple nut wouldn't say positive things about Microsoft and Android stuff.

"I for one would never knock Android devices - I think many of them are as good as Apple's devices, and I have nothing against Microsoft either, their OS is also very good, especially 7."

That looks like you've just went and googled "latest Microsoft operating system" so that you know which OS to say is "very good".

I think I have to be the non-Apple user who cares the least about this same debate that's been cropping up for over a decade... over and over and over again....

May I suggest that anyone who doesn't understand why others buy apple products by now probably never will? I don't get it, that's fine - they can go their way, I'll go mine.

I am posting from an ipad now, i am not an apple fan but the apps and ease of use of this device appeal.
I am surprised as just how much i lke it.
As for the pos above, i hate itunes, i despise the fact one cant simply drag drop, i hate the inability to folder brows to fnd out just what is where, arrow keys for navigating to edit would be a nice addition.

All said a well marketed good device which covers all the basics well, but does not of them superbly.

My friend has bought an iPad2 this week, he used mine and was blown away at how easy and intuitive the UI was.

He chose it over a similar priced laptop, he loved it.

You can? Just turn off automatic sync. It does wipe it when you do though but it's worth it :)

I'm not a big fan of iPhones but I can see the appeal to people like my parents who just want something simple out of the box.

I do have an iPad 2. Well... I didn't buy it myself but it sure has been handy to have now when travelling a lot! However when the next time comes that I need a tablet I'm not bound to just buying whicever Apple one is out at the time. If Samsungs one is better, or any other one is then I would obviously buy that instead. My parents love it and would much rather buy an iPad than a laptop as it does just what they need it for.

Also have an iPod that I have had for 6 years now so I can't fault that! :p Don't know the model though.

I've had my iphone 4since release, i still love it now as a complete package as it just works, as for customer service, my partner has a 3G, the button on the side stopped working and we were in Manchester last month so we popped into the apple store in the arndale to have it checked, the phone was 3 weeks out of warranty, guess what, they gave her a brand new 3g, now that's excellent customer service if you ask me :)

Android i'm sure is a good OS, and a few years ago, i'd have bought into it as it's highly adaptable, but i just can't be bothered tinkering with stuff like that anymore, the iphone just works for me, i'm not being a fanboy, i'll buy what i think suits me, if that had been a samnsung, or an LG, or a blackberry then so be it. I'm happy with my 5mp camera, if i want to take photos, i'll buy a DSLR, i'm happy with 720p video capture, if i want to record 1080p video, i'll use either the DSLR as above (Canon 60D most likely ;). I like the metal and glass on my phone, it makes it feel well built. It looks nice, is nice to use, quick enough for anything i need it for, why would i choose something else when it's right for my requirements?

Oh, and lol at hypocr....i mean, easyrider ;)
