It will be pure Android and competition for the XOOM. Let the tablet wars begin.

Same spec as all honeycomb tablets. What I'll decide on is price, accessories and a pure unmessed with os.

The wait on this is a massive plus (600g). The ipad and xoom are 730g which really does hurt your arms after a while. Not saying this won't but I imagine it will be less :p.

it is a plus, but don't people read hardcover books anymore. they weigh around this.

Personally I'm looking at ones like asus transformer with attachable keyboard for even more flexability and doubles up as a stand.

Its the way you hold it which matters. Heavy books you can hold with 2 arms and read.

On a tablet you need a hand free.

When doing most tasks you can hold in both hands.

The best way to hold an ipad I found (right handed) was to wrap left arm round the back so you are holding the right edge. Then have hand free to browse the etc.

Yes you're right, if watching a video or something (most probably in landscape) then using both arms in parallel and grasping the top edge isn't too bad. However, browsing the internet, playing games or generally interacting with the screen a lot does require to have free movement of a hand.

If you literally hold the tablet with hands (instead of resting it on an arm or 2), then I hope you don't hold it for too long.

for me it's left hand back is resting on all fingers and thumb is used for limited screen control. Right hand back is resting on 2+3rd finger and extensive screen control with 1st finger. If you need to touch centre of screen you can remove right hand as it's resting on your left hand.

For me I think it is going to be based on looks and specifications, with price in the background. I was keen on the Motorola Xoom but it has a ridiculous price tag... I am hoping the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is more reasonably priced.

However the Samsung doesn't have an HDMI out, which could be quite useful :(

Are we sure it doesn't? The original Tab has HDMI out using an optional dock via the same proprietory connector that the new tab has.

The reviews I have read say this:
The device only weighs 1.23 pounds (599 grams), and though it has a SIM slot, 3.5mm jack, BlueTooth 2.1, and Wi-Fi 802.11, it uses Samsung's proprietary charging cable and doesn't have USB or HDMI ports.

I suppose they are talking about the main body itself and not any accessories. If the dock has one then I am happy.

Now to await reviews when the product is actually released before deciding to go for the Xoom or the Tab 10.1 :)
