Why do people buy into apple BS?

I can't but I can show you a massively cheaper laptop, a massively cheaper desktop, a massively cheaper cell phone all of which are all more powerful and don't actually require a media store and don't lock you into an app store... will that do?

Why would I want an inferior product and also I am not locked into using the app store on my iphone. No idea what your point is.

This has just turned into a silly Apple vs anything else debate, inevitable wasn't it. Ah well.

It's interesting though.

You'll see that the people that like Apple are actually providing sensible, calm and reasoned arguments. Where as those that are anti-Apple just shout in caps and spam pictures and bad grammar everywhere.

Or worse yet, they are just post-and-run trolls.

Come now, you've been here 7 years... Did you expect anything more?

Of course that's what I expected, I hadn't seen the thread until this morning and it was the first thing I'd expected, despite seeing this in the OP -

This thread is not a Apple V Android thread its a genuine question as to why people buy slower heavier less functional tech for more money

An interesting point you make there.

Not cheaper than a yamaha ybr-125 though, which on paper is a better bike.

I bet the majority of people do buy a random tv that they see in a store. They don't do much comparison with online ratings or forum users opinions being considered.

What you are failing to realise is that fanboys are not the highest percentage of purchasers, they might be the most vocal, but that is all they are.

That is true, but I am talking about the fact that a lot of the owners did not do any comparision at all. They probably just walked right into the apple store and bought one off the cuff, the difference with someone buying a tv is that most people would have a walk around the shop looking at them before they buy that random one.
I agree that most people probably don't do any proper research, but certainly the normal thing to do is walk around a shop and check out what they offer where as most iphone owners just "wanted one" or bought it impromptu.

No, because I still can't get media and I want a tablet format.
I already have a desktop.

OK - if we're going to be in on the nitty gritty - I'd have to say that using my Android ASUS Transformer, which by the way was cheaper than the iPad2, is a far more pleasurable experience.

I have:
A keyboard that I can plug in that adds an extra 8 hours of life to it.
2 Full sized USB ports that allow me to connect external hard drives for storage, also connect games controllers, my digital camera and download and preview photos, USB drives and quite a few other devices.
I have HDMI out
I have a microSD and a full sized SD for an additional 64GB of storage
I have Flash
I have access to whatever apps source I like
I can drag and drop any music or video format onto my machine and have it just work without having to import it into iTunes and then convert it.

The list is longer but I'm sure you get my point. I'm free to do what I like with it. The iPad "just works" as long as you "just work" like Apple says you can...

A lot of people only know of apple and don't know what Android is. Your typical iphone girl probably did not look at other options carefully, it's quite shameful that people treat their money like this even when they can't afford to.

The thing is your typical girly girl doesn't care how much RAM there is, or whether the CPU is dual core, whether it does Flash or not. They just want something that is simple to use, looks nice and has a great screen. If they've already got an Apple computer then it completely makes sense to buy something which they know is 100% compatible with what they already have without having to look at a spec sheet. I will also say Apple have excellent customer service regardless as to what gropingmantis said.

my old iPhone 3G randomly stopped charging, I tried 3 different cables and it was still refusing to charge. I booked an appointment on Apple's website, went to the store, took my phone in and within 15 minutes it was repaired for free and with the promise that should it develop a problem again I'd get a replacement model for absolutely nothing. Also the woman standing next to me had a phone which was 3 months out of manufacturer warranty and that was also repaired on the spot for nothing.

And yet you still can't get media on it legally and it's a media device.
