Why do people buy into apple BS?

My contention with mobile phone cameras is that the 'hole' is just not going to be big enough to get really good images. It's fundamentally about light and until they make that bigger there is going to be a limit on image quality... more MPs doesn't mean a better photo, just a bigger one...

In the right conditions though they are perfectly capable. It's obviously no good if you need to zoom or want SLR quality/features, but for general use they are fine.

My Galaxy S II camera has taken some superb pictures, as has my iPhone 4 :p

Personally I could never buy an apple product full stop and I'll be ensuring my family are well educated on what Apple has to offer. If they decide to make the choice to buy into Apple, that's absolutely fine. Various members of my family and friends have iPhones. I don't lose sleep over this at all, but personally I will ensure they are atleast aware of what they are "buying into" with an Apple product and how it is likely to be inferior and over priced in comparison to other competitors.

1: Generally speaking Apple products are over priced in comparison to the competition. You pay more for it to have Apple branding.

2: I do not care for the "apple way" of being rinsed dry of my money to purchase additional stuff to make it function as it should out of the box. Paying for apps is a waste of money when Android apps are free and better or the same.

3: Macs are no better than PCs. They are different. That is all. The problem is, is that they are priced much higher for no gain what so ever. Anyone that tells you otherwise never wishes to properly discuss why MACs are actually supposedly better. i.e. They can't put forward actual reasons in a discussion. Instead on a forum they will simply utter "can we get this thread closed it offers nothing" bla bla bla. The usual excuse is because "they just work" which is false. If you prefer a unix based OS there are plenty of ways to run that on non Mac hardware.

4: The Apple way of life is locked down and not free. You are putting faith in being able to do great things based on what Apple deem fit. I do not like this limitation and closed thinking.

5: The very nature of Apple products being more like fashion accessories and wealth indicators, make them more prone to being stolen and become exactly the type of product I wish to avoid purchasing.

They ceratinly have become more CHAV....Everyone has one...They are becoming more like Burberry everyday.

Why do I not believe you.

They ceratinly have become more CHAV....Everyone has one...They are becoming more like Burberry everyday.

Yet statistically more people have Android phones (because they are cheaper)... so again, you don't have a point.

What I'm saying is, it depends what Apple really want from this platform. If they want it to be the no1 Mobile O/S they're taking the wrong approach.

Elaborate?

What is wrong with the Phones O/S? It is quick, simple (minus the networking / 3G settings, they annoy me) and yeah, I can't really fault it that much.

There is no doubt that Apple products are priced higher compared to others for the sum of their parts.

I have never really understood the appeal either. Just seems to be the 'cool' thing to buy. Good marketing by them for sure.

My Dads missus recently got an ipad from the States as she works out there a lot. I was looking forwards to seeing what it is all about.

I just don't get it. It is a stupid size and does nothing more than a decent netbook does. It does feel like it is designed for simpletons as well.

Cool dumbasses.

I don't dislike apple, I love my iphone, however I dislike the way apple overcharge and make you pay through the nose for stuff when they use the same components as everyone else.

Come now, you know it's more about how things are put together than just components. I can buy all the sand I want, but that's not going to get me many microchips if I don't know what I'm doing with it.

Also I dislike Steve Jobs, he's a pathetic excuse for a human being.

I am not saying the O/S is bad - it's very good but their business model means they will not get the explosive growth that Android has. Their walled garden means they want to stay in control, which is fine, unless you want to be the dominant O/S in terms of number of users.

Apple do not leverage the channel in the same way that other organisations do to extend the reach of their products and services.

Again, pointless argument, the IP4 can take as decent pictures as the S2 now, with a 'lower end camera', its not always the cameras MP that makes the picture

Same reason a top end 720p camcorder is far superior to a £39.99 1080p jobby from a random supermarket bargin bin.

720p, 1080p, 5mp, 8mp .. its all meaningless to an extent, its jus how many pixels are spat out at the end of it all.
More importantly is the sensor's ability to cope with high ISO's, dynamic range, detail capture etc.

If I had a non-apple phone can I play words with friends with a person who has an iphone?

That right there is the biggest selling point for me with the iphone, everyone has one these days and I like to show off my e-peen as much as possible with all the apps etc. :D

If it has a camera that I can get the odd visible picture on I'll be happy and if it doesn't run slowly (like my POS n97 does atm..) then I will be over the moon about it and I guess if it makes calls and lets me text people as well would be a bonus but not completely necessary :p.

The iphone as much as I would prefer an android just has more people who I know using them.

Ahh a good old apple argument, thought I might join in...

I'm currently writing this on an iPhone 4 (come at me bros). I don't regret my purchase and it is easily my favourite phone I have ever owned. Admittedly there were a few things that mildly annoyed me before jailbreaking but it seems to have solved everything for me. Many people who are anti-iPhone bring up facts of how their android phone can do everything my phone can at a smaller price. I think that with the iPhone you are buying into the OS which i prefer wholeheartedly to whatever comes with the HTC wildfire and the app store. While androids app store is now probably going to overtake apples at the time, apple was superior.

Oh and in case anyone asks iPhone 32GB was £300~ on a £20 a month contract with tesco mobile for 12 months with unlimited texts and Internet and 300 minutes. It was on an amazing deal right around Christmas.

I am in no way an apple fanboy though. Lol@macs

What always confuses me is why people who don't like Apple or don't own Apple things get so worked up about their mere existence.

It's not just Apple though, it's a lot of things. If you own a product and don't own something else then you're going to defend your purchase by making the competitors look rubbish. You see it between PS3/360/Wii owners, LCD vs Plasma vs Projectors, Firefox vs Chrome etc. It's everywhere xD.

Edit: Not that everyone does defend their products, I think most people do have an open mind on things, but there is obviously a scale on how much people do defend though.
