"Retribution's going to ship in February, and then we start laying out Dawn of War III," Bilson said. "You can probably expect it between 18 months and two years after that." Following Bilson's timeline, Dawn of War III's release date would fall into the August 2012 to February 2013 window.

I think I've finally accepted they will never make a true copy of the table top mechanics, because then who will buy the table top stuff?

Still, I did prefer the original single player experience compared to DoW 2, but DoW 2's multiplayer was much easier to get into and enjoy.

I'd like to see the original's base building and gameplay (especially the global map from Dark Crusade!) in single player but the more arcadey style multiplayer from DoW 2 in DoW 3. I have some hope as they mention that they're bringing in a bit of the base building aspect so really looking forward to 3!

Still dont understand the hate for DoW2 the game added so much that the original was totally lacking.. Spose i am a bit biased in that i would consider CoH to be the best RTS ever (or at least since AoE2)

Bring on CoH2! :D

I won't buy it unless base building is back.

Didn't like DoWII at all, 40k got a lot of hours played, though.

Please put proper base building back. DoW2, whilst being a decent game, is not a patch on the original. I only really play it for Last Stand these days, the SP is just boring - move to cover, shoot, move to cover, shoot, etc. etc. and so on.

Agree, DoW II lacks the intesity the prequel had. While it's not a bad game, it's dull compared to the first, feels a bit too slow paced. I miss my possessed Chaos marines and Daemon prince just demolishing hordes of Imperial Guard :(

I preferred 2 to 1. I thought the first was dull and never grabbed me enough to play it through to the end. I have played through 2 and all the DLC twice!

I've been playing through dawn of war 2 chaos rising and i can see why people prefer the first one, it's the same thing over and over again with 2 :(. Squad lands, Squad attacks runs for cover, attacks, heals, runs for cover.. The enemy can have as many units as it wants while i'm stuck with my boring squads

I finally got round to DOW2 and recently completed the original campaign.

Not sure if i liked it too much. Looked perfect, much better than DOW in that respect but. I hate the direction they took with 4 squads.. well 3+1. I like the RPG aspect of it so some extent but if DOW3 isnt the best aspects of RTS like SupCom but in a 40k universe. THen :(

Kinda hate the way too that all RTSs have HERO units now that are just raping machines to anything below them. i Know it fits the genre but its :( too

You mean boring compared to the more traditional base building? Start any and every game. Build basic structures, build basic units, build upgraded structures, build upgraded units, repeat to max tier. Combat, Ctrl+A, Attack Move at enemies.

That is what most base building RTS games boil down to. Having those tedious mechanics does not immediately make a game excellent no less than not having them makes a game boring. The small hero groups taking on considerably larger number of enemies made things extremely tactical in how you approached fights, spoilt only by the utterly ridiculous boss fights that rendered all available tactics completely useless and turned them into cluster****s.
