Tour de France more important for me but I shall be watching at other times. I'm rooting for Rory and that Aussie bloke who's name escapes me. Jason Day. I remembered.
The constant cut-aways to peoples faces in the crowds (there ws one time last week that the cameraman focused on 3 young lads for 3-4 minutes!), i want to watch the golf, not the people who are attending!
Showing emtpy fairways
No slow motion or discussions around peoples swings and how well/badly they are hitting it and why.
The commentators are just a bit dreary and feels like it's in the dark ages!
Awful commentary, made worse by constantly cutting around the course to their totally inane filler segments. There was one this morning on the rules surrounding drop shots should the ball land in front of one of the bunker steps - who cares? The odds of it happening are minute, and the chance of it happening to someone at the business end of the leaderboard is even smaller.
Peter Alliss who is more senile by the year!
The embarrassingly low budget production values.
The constant slow motion shots of people - not even players - doing bugger all (a feature of all the BBC's sports coverage).
Seemingly zero contact with the players - a quick word with them as they come off the 18th would be nice!
With Sky you get the sense that every major they are trying to improve their coverage and make it more interesting and appealing to viewers, the BBC's coverage now is identical to how it was 20 years ago. You could literally turn it on and we could be watching coverage from any time between 1991 and 2011.
No wonder everyone thinks golf is boring, I wouldn't blame them if this was the only tournament you got to see each year.
Brilliant summation of everything I hate about the BBC's golf coverage. The fact that 90% of their commentators are suffering from at least mild dementia and closet racism is an added hate for me.
Couldn't believe one comment of "Ooooh, that ferry is a lot lower in the water coming back than it was going out, mind you, that's probably because the tide has gone out......."
And slow mo's of helicopters taking off? Where's the slow mo's of a crisp iron shot to 3 feet? Or a slow tracking put from 25 into the hole?
