So my Windows live account got hacked,Ive submitted a password reset to their support but from what ive been reading from other people who have had their accounts hacked they never got access to their acount again as MS was useless.

So i was wondering, what Email providers you guys use?

I tried Gmail a few years ago and that got bombarded with spam all the time,so much i moved to windows live...now thats probably gone.

I can't remember the last time a single spam email has ever arrived in my inbox with Gmail. I do get lots of spam on a daily basis, but that's all nicely filtered away into the Spam folder.

But then again, Gmail and even Yahoo now have algorithms that scan your emails to produce targeted advertising. If you're worried about privacy, then you probably shouldn't use them!

If you're that fussed about privacy host your email servers and use PGP to encrypt everything.

Gmail has the best spam filter going.

it didnt about 3 years ago,i wa getting about 30 spam messages a day. :D

the thing im not liking about the free ones like Gmail,GMX and all those similar is that like mentioned some are targeting advertising based o nwhats in your email...so i can only assume they can actually read your emails. :(

i thought baout creating an account on Virgin media as they are my ISP.,but then again dont know how secure that is either.

really peed off today though about my email been hacked, aint they got nothing better to do.

Setting up a email server is an absolute nightmare and it makes your server become very important. You have to consider that it will have to be up 24/7 and be very careful to make sure it's working all the time.
I tried it, lost a few emails and decided to use google apps.

I'm interested in the google apps way of doing things. Mainly so I can ditch the gmail domain and use my own.

Is it fairly straigtforward?

Mines been up 115 days so I'm doing something right :D

But I know what you mean, it was annoying to begin with until I got the setup just right.

Oh no! Not the targeted advertising of things that I might actually be interested in.

It's just adsense in your inbox. People aren't sitting reading your emails.

In regards to gmail - do "mark as spam" those emails

Theyll soon not show up!

Been using it since 2005 and havent thought of changing once

Gmx, but domains are so cheap and google apps is free! Personally I am using my own domain + google apps for hosting and it works well.

Made te switch from gmx to gmail a few months ago. Never looked back since.

Gmail is the best because I have got spam once and that is it. It also has the advantage of only needing one login for everything including YouTube.

Gmail is easily the best. Give it another chance

Yup. Personally, I'm not fussed, although I do host my own email servers... well, via work...

Ah, PGP - reminds me of when I was a young teenager, sending 'secret' emails to friends... Another neat way is hiding messages in images.
