I've just had a play with my Dad's new toy and have measure the following:

Blood Pressure: 132 / 84
Pulse Rate: 59

I'm assuming these are okay. Anyone else got any readings?

Pulse is pretty low considering you've just been playing with your dad's toy.

Edit: Serious answer - pulse is spot on for healthy adult. Don't know about blood pressure as I've had no experience with this.

I was quite surprised to see mine was as high as 129/83, since I'm pretty fit and good diet. Pulse rate was around 80 or something, also quite high.

Ideal is supposed to be between 90/60 and 120/80.

Yeah my dad bought it as he's having trouble at the moment.

I'm 38, my pulse has always been around that level. I'm reasonably fit as well. I'll have a look into the blood pressure. I thought 130 was supposed to be okay?

Blood pressure is a tiny bit on the high side, but nothing to worry about. As the chart above shows, worth keeping an eye on it though. Obviously we're not allowed to give medical advice.......but maybe cut back on the high sodium ready-meals and snacks :)

A couple of years ago I discovered mine was 170/120  I'm perfect weight, quite fit, etc - unfortunately I inherited the BP from my mum. I have to take medication and cut back on the high sodium foods. I had it taken the other day and it was 117/72 \0/

You have to remember it goes up and down all day long too. Even just talking makes it go up. I only know this because I had to have a 24 hour one done to find the real mean level.

Mine was up @ 150/90 few months ago, had an ECG done too after complaining of chest pains, everything checked out fine and I just adjusted my diet/stress levels, and the problem thankfully went away.

Thing is i'm very fit and healthy already, perhaps I exercise a bit too much..

OP: You have nothing to worry about, blood pressure on the most part is a good thing and has a purpose, but consistently high BP means something is wrong somewhere!

No idea what my blood pressure is / has been but my pulse is 53 at the mo.

Anything under 60bpm is classed as 'bradycardia' but providing you dont feel woozy, its fine. Athletes have been known to have heart rates in the 30's with no ill effects.

I just bought a bluetooth heart rate monitor (Zephyr HXM) that I use with my phone for tracking running/cycling. Reating heart rate is around 50 which I was pretty chuffed with, then go out and do my usual Saturday morning 5km...average 190, peak 205  Drops back under 100 in a few minutes, thinking I might go see the doc just incase though :)

130/80
Resting heart rate 92

Lots of palpitations

So if I stop posting one day you will all know why. I should really medicate my self
