Heres the problem:

Downstairs i have a Virgin Media D-link router, which connects to the web via cable, then connects to the office PC via ethernet and the NAS via ethernet. There are numerious WI-FI devices hooked up to the router usally: 1x laptop 1x PC(in my room) 3x phones 1x Ipad 1x Xbox. Now if i go onto one of the laptops connected to the same network as my computer upstairs and go to >>windows>>network and sharing centre>>view computers and devices on the network. It comes up with the NAS and all other machines on the network which is what i want to happen. But if I do the same thing on my PC still on the same wireless network, the only devices i can see are the media devices of the NAS and the PC im looking for the NAS on. I also get a Network infrastructure that says manufacturer is netgear and model number etc..
So on the same network one pc can see the nas and the other cant? it is a cheap NAS box with a 80gb drive in, but surley if one pc can see it and connect fine then its working ok? Also it just suddenly changed one day and said I cound'nt connect to it, I didnt change any settings or anything.

any suggestions on how to get my pc linked up to the nas would be very helpful! I have even considered reseting the router and NAS box :(

Thanks
Freddie

I'm not sure what you mean by linked up to the NAS, but even if it doesn't find it in the network discovery explorer. You should still be able to connect to it by creating a shortcut to \\NAS\
\\NAS\ being your NAS.

bit more info would help, like OS etc.???
My PC is running Win7 and the PC that can detect the NAS is vista, the office PC is XP

Nope i tried that and nothing happens :(

is the win7 network setup as a home network? if so try setting it as a work network. mixed win7/vista/xp networks can be a pain...

Nope i changed to "Work Network" and i can still see the same things.

EDIT: i just reset the NAS back to stock settings and still not working ARGH!
