I've been kind of bored with my Xbox 360 as i have completed everything and just basically waiting for new releases now (Batman Arkham City is one of them). Since i've been bored, i decided to bring down my old MegaDrive and revisit past games of which i had as a kid. Is it me, or do you find most of the sega games quite hard to complete and that difficulty is beyond ridiculous. On some games you can't even get past the second level!, but this is what i kinda like about the MegaDrive as it makes you determine to complete it.
One game in paticular is "The adventures of Batman & Robin" because this game is just crazy and it's unlikely that you will even get past the first boss without losing all of your lifes.

So is there any games that you thought were crazy hard for the Megadrive or other old consoles that come to mind?

Thanks.

I wouldn't necessarily say they were harder but I did spend more time playing them and completing them than I do now... I think that has more to do with age and less time to play though.

If you like hard, retro games, you should try and pick up metal slug 3 on the xbox arcade.

That game is so miserably hard it boggles my mind that some people have actually completed it. Good fun though!

haha just watched that video then Nitefly, does look hard but fun at the same time. Might give it a try. You can't beat a good old sidescroller game. And also, i agree that games were actually more challenging and sort of stratigic based before this generation.

That video makes it look easy, it is phenomenally hard!!! I think we made it to the last level with maximum available continues - you took a shuttle into space and then at some point it just went ridiculous, instadeath everywhere.

We then played through it with unlimited lives and it turned out the last level was about 40 minutes of solid instadeath

I will bow down to anyone who has completed that game without looking at a guide... hell, I'll even bow down to those who have used youtube to suss it all out :p

Also, the soundtrack kicks ass, especially that egyptian level, shame you can't hear it in that vid. I even learned it on guitar :o

Few games had naturally occring health like modern games do.. Few games lasted less than 10 hours, despite the lower capacity of a game cartridge...

Some games you might not even complete without some devotion wheras modern games kinda force you through...so lame:(

I can't decide whether the games were much more difficult or if I was just worse at games back then. I can easily complete the likes of Streets of Rage and Sonic whereas it was a struggle back in the day.

I know what you mean, i was playing Robocop Vs The Terminator game today and remembering there was this robot that was insanely hard, but when i got to it i was able to beat it without no struggle:eek:. I think when i was younger i was just rushing through it and just basically playing it without thinking. When i'm playing it now, i'm noticing patterns but there are still some sega games out there which will challenge any hardcore gamer!

Ghouls n' Ghosts.

Stupidly hard.

Terminator 2 judgement day is solid as well, never got passed the police chase sequence in the police car.

The Megadrive evolved from a generation of arcade games which were designed to be hard/impossible and gobble your 20p coins up!

Much prefer games now, even classics like Streets of Rage and Sonic just dont hold my attention like they did. Fond memories probably better left that way in my case!
