Don't take the MegaDrive lightly!

I can't believe I got so far on Ghouls n Ghosts when I was like 12 years old, I try it now and fail miserably :-/ :p Must have had ninja skills back then :p

Awesome game.

The thing is though I don't think that these games were considered overly hard back then, it's just the way games were.

We'd have moaned about it if you could just run through the levels like you can in most modern games.
 
With most games nowadays you are guaranteed to finish the game so its refreshing when you get the odd game that's a real challenge.

Demons souls for instance will kick you in the nuts each time you screw up.

also Resistance 3 is ditching the recharging health found in every game for the past 6 years for an old fashioned life bar approach.

I have about 25 megadrive games and have to date finished only 3 of them.

I only ever got to Loki round 1, once when I was younger.

Now I can't get passed the section with the clouds and where you have to jump on the tongues and over the statues.

Solid game.
 
I remember getting back to the future part 3 on the mega drive. I couldnt even complete the first level let alone the rest of the game.

I tried it again about a year ago and I still could not complete the first level lol. It was where you had to save Clara from falling into the ravine. So you are on a horse and you had to jump or duck stuff. But it is so stupidly fast I just found it impossible to anticipate the jump or duck lol
 
There is a boss from one of the Shinobi games that was SO difficult!
When I used to play we used up all our special moves just to kill him and had none left for the next level :S

Hahaha, I have played that game, and failed at the first level as well, I swear it's impossible.
 
Toejam and earl - I don't even remember the storyline or what you had to do but I do remember never really getting anywhere.
 
It's actually a really easy game.

I played it when I was younger and never really got anywhere either but my brother and I dug it out a couple of years back and got through it in next to no time.

Edit: And my mum finished Desert Strike and Jungle Strike back in the day :)

The lava level on Aladdin i always seem to die on, but you think thats hard. Try playing the Lion King, you think that would be simple but the second level were you have to jump on the animal and swing to the other level was frustrating... and those damn jumping and ducking OSTRICHES!!!:mad:

The Lion King was ridiculous, I remember it on the Mega Drive. I used to get killed on that elephant graveyard level. ****ing hyenas. :mad:
 
So many angry memories from my childhood. :D

I dont get the problems on Streets of Rage, I didn't have a problem with that one.

Another one is the never ending game of Kid Chameleon.

Flashback & Another World were horrible games.

The Lion King was a pain in the ass too.
 
The problem I had on Streets of Rage was the final level of the game, you know the one, you have to fight every single boss in the game. When you have to fight against the twins in that level it would ALWAYS make me rage. Bear in mind I was only about 9 or 10 when playing this. :p
