Samsung S2 , Iphone 5 which one

They are a result of the networks being greedy and not Apple themselves though. Apple's direct price is perfectly fair.

I thought Apple dictated the network prices but apparently they don't.

And since its all business a lot of people are willing to pay the high prices to have an iPhone so it would be foolish for the networks to charge lower prices.

Apple have got the product and the marketing to pull it off - hats off to them.

I really don't like apple products to be honest, and there pricing is crazy.

Cheapest I can find the SGSII from a reputable shop (exapansys/play etc.) is £475, the equivilent iPhone 4 being £499. Chances are the iPhone 5 when it comes out will also be £499.

As most people but their phone on contract, iPhone contract prices are utter madness.

But that isn't Apples doing, you can blame O2 and the like for that. Well, the consumer too; they don't need to discount the iPhone to sell well.

Anyway, I'd wait and see what the iPhone 5 will be like. If it's not as good as the SGSII spec wise and you like Android get the SGSII.

Indeed they have.

Networks are bar stewards though :p

there are specs flying around I dont know how much of its true though..

They say the IPHONE 5 (4gs) will be similar to the IPAD2, it will have a dual core processor, slightly larger screen, and more accessories (so more cash of apple)

I just wondered however whether the Samsung Galaxy S2 will be blown out the water in 2-3 months and replaced by a better, faster, HTC or the new version of the IPHONE...

I have never liked any of the IPHONES despite owning 1 for a couple of months.

I much rather prefer ANDROID phones as you can install custom ROMS and with the huge benefit of ANDROID being open source..

I currently have a HTC HD2 and have changed ROMS several times and I really like option as sometimes it can change the look, feel of your phone making it feel new due to the added features, options etc..

So I wonder if its worth upgrading now to the S2 or waiting for HTC to launch something, I am not sure whether they have anything in the pipeline though...

From that it's surely got to be the SGS2, HTC's answer to that is the Sensation which is about equal, slightly worse hardware but better UI, notably not yet unlocked (supposedly september, and then the usual delay before decent roms come out...)

Within 6-8 months or so I'd expect at least announcements of the next wave of Android phones, eg 'SGS3' which will take another step forward in hardware, also 'Ice Cream Sandwich'

I'd still go for the SGS2 though, it's a stunningly fast phone that I doubt will feel 'old' even in a 18 months time...

cheers guys appreciate your responses and feedback

roll on 2nd aug for my upgrade when I will go for the SGS2...

anyone purchase any decent accessories for it? case etc?

also is the screen on the sgs2 scratch proof?

It isn't scratch proof, but it's scratch resistant. You'll do well to scratch it.

There is a whole thread on accessories, give it a read.

wheres the SGS2 accessories thread? I can see all the other ones to do with it but not the accessories one?

From what I gathered whilst working in a phone shop that the Apple dictated the price of handsets on contracts, the network would only discount down depending the customer for upgrades.

IMO there's nothing on the horizon that will better the SGS2.

The SGS2 pretty much leaves you wanting for nothing and is the most complete smartphone available.

Really? I've used one and while it's a very very good phone I'd probably pick the HTC Sensation myself.

LOL at a couple of comments here, how can anyone describe the SGS2 as cheap looking is beyond me!

Odd how a cheap looking phone can sell so many and is YET to sell even more once it gets launched over in the states, not bad for a cheap looking phone not bad at all.

You can make a case for the HTC Sensation being the more preferable phone of the two but it's a fairly weak argument and like-for-like it is inferior.

There are no two ways about it.

Its bizarre isn't it? The SGS, when placed next to an iPhone 4, looks anything but cheap.

It doesn't have the premium feel of the iPhone 4 but it's really not much of an issue.

This is the best selling phone ever:
