My Faith Restored

After seeing the 2 threads about people shirking their responsibilities (motorbike and car accidents the other party tried to get out of), my faith was restored this evening.

As we sat down to eat we had a knock on the door, it was the driver of an Audi who had just knocked down a cat that had run from our gateway. The cat was ours a beautiful black cat called Vladimir.

2 cars had stoped along with some pedestrians who were visibly upset, and our poor cat was still alive although unconscious, one of the pedestrians ran up the road to go to the vets.

Sadly while we waited with our cat he passed away, but we got to spend his last few moments of life with him.

The driver of the car had not been speeding, it was in no way his fault, but he still bothered to say sorry and just generally be a nice guy about the whole thing. We thanked him, and told him exactly how much we respected him for letting us know what had happened.

To whoever you are, I say thank you, if there were more people like you the world would be a much nicer place to be.

Very sorry to hear of the loss. Good to hear that there are some decent people still around. One of my work colleagues suffered something similar last year, and the driver didn't stop at all - one of the neighbours called them instead.

A light-hearted moment - probably poor taste, timing and judgement but only today we were chortling at this http://www.27bslash6.com/missy.html

Sorry to hear about your cat.

Props to the driver, and also props for you to not being one of the many psycho pet owners on here who would probably run over the person that did it, regardless of fault.

Good on the Audi driver for being honest and good on you for emphasising with the Audi driver whom I'm sure was just unlucky and not at fault.

RIP Kitty. Don't know if it helps but it was obviously your cats time to go. Although a horrible thing to happen there is always a "positive" as well :). Chin up and well done for being a man about it.

This.

Sorry for your loss, losing a pet is incredibly difficult... :(

but i can imagine how much you respect the driver for knocking on your door.

I can put myself in his shoes and imagine how awful he felt, yet even in all of that he was able to look us in the eye and say sorry for our loss, he didn't rush off because he was in a hurry to get home for his dinner or w/e.

My main reson for posting this was to show the polar opposite to the behaviour of the 2 other drivers in the threads here, I felt it was a good example we should bear in mind rather than the scumbags who try to ditch their responsibilities to save a few quid.

There was no money involved here, but I can imagine that guy felt far worse than the losss of a no-claims bonus.

A women ran over our dog and as we didnt live on a residential street it was very kind of her to check the tag and bring it to our house(was just up the road as it was planning a great escape!) , she was a vet so naturally kind hearted, so theres plenty of people out there waiting to do good things just the bad mostly outshine the good!
