No I'm not spamming, serious question

A lot of my mates go out to clubs and etc on friday nights and they get smashed every week and they say its only good if you get smashed.

I don't understand this and personally think its a bit stupid if you do it every week.

I wouldn't mind going to a pub but I just think clubbing is a bit pointless.

Am I too mature for my age? (late teens by the way)

Depends on the club. I very much doubt I could have had a good time at Langtrys or Dukes without getting smashed.

10 points if you recognise the clubs or the towns. I have had the Dukes experience :D

I'm 22 and just back from going out with some mates. They went onto a club, but I didn't fancy it. It's not really that I detest it, I just think I got it out of my system early on at uni and would rather be in a pub or similar. Everyone's different at the end of the day.

No I don't think you are too mature for your age I think you are mistaken.

If someone went fishing every week, or played golf, or went shopping, or watched their local football team, I presume that would be 'ok'.

Yet clubbing every week is somehow 'stupid'??

Nope. You do what you want. Let them do what they want. No-one has to call anyone else 'stupid' :)

And clubbing is about as pointless as typing on this forum I'm afraid. Except clubbing may get a nice girly to go home with you for fun times ...

The truth is nobody is mature, regardless of taste and likes/dislikes, until you get at least into your 30s.

The last thing a teenager should aspire to be is mature. Go out and live your life, and stop worrying about it, because later on in life you'll realise no teenager is mature and cannot be.

Dude, last time I saw you we were both totally blotto and tucking into an Essex kebab. We need to hit the beer again soon! EDIT - and talking to a taxi driver about Crystal Palace!?!

As for you OP, nothing wrong with not wanting to get wasted. I've had good times sober and good times drunk. I must admit I do enjoy a little social lubricant where possible. As long as I'm in the zone I'm not bothered how I got there!

It's immature do have it as a sole aim. It screams lack of emotional maturity in other areas if they have to let off steam by losing control of themselves.

That said, everything in moderation. Excess is fine when done rarely. As a common aim though, no. I don't see the point and I have serious questions about individuals and society as a whole when people can only deem a night out good when they fail to remember any of it.

"So, how was last night?"

"****ing brilliant. I was ****ed! Can't remember a thing!"

"Legend!"

It's childish.

This is where the fun of being intoxicated runs out for me too. I love being drunk, but part of that is remembering the hilarity the following day (even if you might need to be reminded about it)
Fun times are no good if you don't actually recall them.

I'm about the same age as you OP, and concur with your opinion. Though I take it slightly further as I don't drink full stop. Never seen the appeal, I can have fun without intoxication.

I do it every week. Sometimes twice. At uni more. It is incredible partying that much, but you feel it after a while :D

That, and I really fail to understand why people think it's an achievement when they're so drunk they lose the ability to walk or nearly choke on their own vomit.

Drink as a social lubricant and release, I understand totally. Absolute excess, I don't.

At uni I used to do

Monday - comedian night
Tuesday - rest
Wednesday - all afternoon drinking then clubbing
Thursday - wierd night (with acts like 'the regurgitator' and 'human beatbox competitions') + eat out somhere
Friday - MASSIVE clubbing night (local)
Saturday - up into the 'city' (London) for clubbing proper 6am job
Sunday - Chill out with mates in pub

For about 3 years! I'm not entirely sure how I'm still alive ...

That's pretty much my year down to a tee. What uni were you at?

Because you end up with stories that entertain you for years and still make me laugh to this day even though they happened over 10 years ago, and do daft stuff you never would otherwise.

And you have stupid irresponsible and very dirty sex with some girl you only met 35 minutes ago by almost chucking up on her.

I imagine.

Yes. I believe this is possible. Not that it has happened. At all. Honestly.

Greenwich here :)

Fabric is incredible, love the place. Same goes for ministry of sound, brilliant night out. I have a friend who studies criminology at Kingston, and she says the Greenwich SU is much better than hers ;)
