Are most of those reviews suggesting that this card can be flashed?

Pretty sure at least one of them did

Haven't had the chance to read them all yet...
 
Correct me if I am wrong by all means, my understanding is that if you attempt the shader unlock and it fails (presumably due to either the flash BIOS being write protected or the silicon being laser cut) then you still have the option of booting with a secondary display card and returning the BIOS back to its default.

Its not like you are over volting the GPU or flashing to a different spec i.e. 6970 and risk physical damage by unlocking the shaders.

So by attempting to unlock the shaders then overclocking the card should in theory be pretty low risk and yield performance in excess of a stock 6970 or 570 GTX. Worse comes to worse you only overclock the card with the default shaders and still exceed the stock performance of 6970 but ultimately lose out on ~5% that the reference 6950's enjoy but don't overclock as much due to the thermal improvements.

Seems to me you can't go too far wrong with this offer unless AMD release a 7000 series GPU in the next few months with better performance at the same price point (which seems unlikely for a while).

To anyone recieving this card from this batch I would be grateful if you could test the following statement from Vortez.net:

"The card definitely has a BIOS switch which comes under the guise of a fan profile switch. It's the TwinFrozr II that doesn't come with one."

Likewise if I recieve mine before others I'll happily test this out...

Then its down to some brave sole to attempt the shader unlock, possibly an employee of OCUK building a new system :)
 
i will also appreciate a lot if members here can post their max stable clock and success rate of flashing this card too.. btw tempted to get myself one also, but got a direct cu2 on the way to test.
