Planning a Trip to Alton Towers tommorow, forecast says it will be raining heavily.

Question is, will the rides such as Oblivion/Nemesis etc.. still be open despite the Rain? Or do they close?

Last time I went it was raining and I got to go on all the rides :) It was only light rain, kinda like today. Not sure what they do with heavy rain.

The park may close some of the taller rides if there is wind, but not if it's raining. It's not an issue with Alton anyway, as they have an overground height limit of 20M. It's more of a problem with Thorpe Park with Stealth and Brighton Pier with Booster etc.

I thought they stayed open in the rain.
If you ride Rita in the rain expect your face to hurt a lot though.

^^ This.

Last time I went a torrential downpour started as we were queueing, they temporarily stopped the ride for 10 minutes, then reopened it again. Half of the queue emptied in front of us. We got on and took a hammering lol.

Was fun :D

I've been on Nemesis in heavy rain, honestly it wasn't pleasant. It really stung!

Turns out we were the last car to leave the station - they shut the ride down.

Most things should still be open, but don't be surprised if the ride are a bit unreliable which can increase queuing times, which is never fun in the rain. I went on Monday, was nice and sunny though at least :D

Cheers for the replies. Still unsure as to go or not, don't want to go with it raining like mad and the good rides closed, yet I want to go incase the rain does stop at some point!

OH THE DECISIONS~!

You'll still get thousands of people turn up, even if its rainy. Those paying customers will queue for rides regardless. If the ride breaks down due to the weather, the queue time will increase...

I'd go for it if I was you, rain prob won't be constant so not likely to ruin your day.
