Hello people!

I've upgraded from Asus CH III to CH V with my 955 BE C3 @ 4214mhz , 21 multi 1.40v using H50 push/pull.

I was doing a basic stress test using AMD Over Drive but my temps are hitting 77c+!! CPU core temp gives me the same temps.... this is way to high is it not?! On my old CH III, I was getting idle temps of around 30/33 with load at 55 @ 4214mhz. New CHV installed and my temp are up by 10-20c+

I've applied some new Thermal paste (Coolermaster HTK-002) but I keep getting the same temps.... even in CHV bios (0506) they're as high.

Is the HTK-002 crap paste, am i getting incorect temps? Any ideas please!?!?

It is crap paste. Still should not get temps like that.

Is in not because it a lot warmer now than when you last did a stress test.

The temps seem high but i dont know a lot about amd.

Sig fixed.

Its winter here now... my room is about 17c. PC running at 3210mhz with 0% load, 1.35v, but still 42c!! Something is not right here... dont AMD PII melt above 65?

Temp monitoring on AMD is unreliable they differ from board to board I've found, I think AMD still just use basic sensors with some math formula to calculate a rough temp.

If it's stable running Prime95 or the like I wouldn't worry tbh.

Make sure the H50's pump is on a fan header that is NOT speed controlled at all. Turn off Q-fan, etc in the BIOS for that header. Alternatively (and this is the better idea) plug the pump into a Molex adapter to connect it directly to the PSU.
If this is already the case, what voltage is your CPU at? A lot of AMD boards like to set crazy high voltages for no real reason.

Yep, fan on header.... (i have a box of old cables but no molex to 3pin)

Volts are 1.47 @ 4226 with new Arctic Silver5 paste. I ran Futuremark11, cpu hit 70+ but didnt miss a beat. When i put my hand at the back of my case, even at load the air isnt even that warm.

I'm just a bit worried as i keep hearing that AMD cpu's dont like going over 65+ when overclocked!

Yeah, you're best keeping the CPU below 62C in all honesty. 1.47V is pretty high, I wouldn't want to run those kind of volts myself as I usually try stick to 1.45V as a maximum. Nice clock though.
I'd probably get a better cooler if it was me.

Better cooler....

ive been spending way to much $$$ on my PC lately :D

What's better then H50 push/pull? (on a buget).... i guess the next thing is to go proper water-cooling then?!

silver arrow will out do any budget ' water' cooler lol, best option and money no object would be a full on custom water loop :)

There is a known issue with the BIOS and reading temps.

You have tried remounting the block to be sure yeah

Yep, done that.... cheers

I'm looking at getting one of these.... are they any good for a novice?!?!

XSPC Rasa 750 RS240 Universal CPU Water Cooling Kit

Cheers but doesnt look like double rad will fit in my Antec case.... booo! I had a CM 690 II but it kind of died on me.
