Are you Homophobic?

Huh? No, I think they should bang away until their hearts content, if they choose to of course. Using any orifice they deem fit, same goes for gay people :p

Sorry, that probably wasn't clear. I wasn't asking if you cared whether people had sex for recreation as well as reproduction since you're quite clearly on the "do whatever you want" side of the fence. It was more a musing following the line of argument that sex is just for reproduction - if we take this to the final point then once people know they are incapable of having children then they presumably must stop having sex at all to remain vaguely logically consistent.

I think my Joke fun thread has brought up and important issue here.

Thread here

I'm not gay but people seem to come across that being Gay is wrong...or a negative place to be?

Now I for one know that a few people who I know are gay and would see this product as a complete joke just like me and you do..

Why do people seem to feel threatened by someone's sexuality? I have no issue with gay people.

I'm heterosexual and secure in my own skin... Are you?

True, I also have no issue with gay people, but i do have the opinion that homosexuality isn't right or should i say natural. I don't think that makes me actually homophobic as i do respect people wishes and will interact with gay people without any prejudice. I just don't understand how it can be.. I always thought that gay people have had enough of their own sex and seek that buddy love that you can get from a close relationship (best mates), or maybe they want to be different or follow the fad, i could never believe the idea that they we're born like it. As for me and countless other males attraction to females is powerful to even consider batting for the other side. Hey ho they you go :p

Well logically yes, if you're of the opinion that sex is purely for reproduction you should stop if you're incapable of doing such. It would be just as 'wrong' as gay people having sex, according to the likes of Mason-.

I think people are getting really confused about terminology here. Homosexuality isn't unnatural, it occurs naturally in species across the board. It is abnormal in that it deviates from the normal behavioural patterns of the species in which it arises, but being abnormal doesn't make something wrong.

nice terminology, in the case of bringing it up on the internet, i'd like to bring up the fact of it being very abnormal, off the computer, maybe normal, depends if i like them or not, in a non sexual way

The only way to win these arguments is not to play. Homophobe by definition is a irrational fear, you can't use rational arguments to combat it.

I've read this about 6 times and it's still not making much sense, can anyone enlighten me?

Going against the way of nature doesn't make it right then.

I'm not homophobic but to say homosexuality is completely normal is taking it a bit too far imo

chinese scientists have already discovered that a chemical imbalance of serotonin in the brain can make you feel attracted to your own sex.

So even though you know it is completely natural it's not normal?

Well strictly speaking it isn't normal, in the sense that being left handed or ginger isn't normal as you belong to a minority.

It doesn't mean it's wrong though.

Nope, seems like random words put together with the odd comma for effect.

Thanks, thought it was just me.

It's wrong because if everyone was gay there'd be nobody left.

I'm picking this post as a representative example of a fairly common line of argument from people who think homosexuality is wrong.

It's a very revealing line of argument because it requires that the speaker must also believe that homosexuality is so much more appealing than heterosexuality that if it isn't suppressed then there's a good chance that everyone would choose homosexuality.

So everyone who uses the "humanity would die out" argument must either be homosexual themselves and suppressing it or wish that they were homosexual because they think it's much better than heterosexuality. Their argument makes no sense at all otherwise.
