motherboard sizes for HTPC

Hi, thinking of changing my desktop PC into a HTPC.

If I was to buy a HTPC case, would the mobo fit? are they standard sizes?

My present mobo in desktop pc is in a normal big pc case, is only 2 years old etc.

Just wasnt sure.

I think you'll need a MicroATX case.

You're current PC, won't fit in a small HTPC case.

it depends on the case lol, you can get them it pretty much every standard atx size. ATX,mATX,uATX, mini atx, pico atx ect ect

Your current motherboard is probably ATX. Most HTPC cases are usually smaller (micro/mini-ATX or ITX). You can get ATX HTPC cases but it depends how small you want your HTPC to be. GH is probably the better place for this thread, not Windows.

Mini/Pico ATX? Never heard of them.

mini atx is slightly smaller than mini itx

The uATX looks great for a SFF sys, never did find pico-atx on wikapedea though, I wish DTXs would make a appearance.
