Cleaning a suede steering wheel

Does anyone have advice on this? I have a suede sparco wheel and noticed the other day after a long drive that it was slightly sticky on the hand grips and turned my hands black and is in general matted down and looking tired.

It's a few years old now and could do with some love.

Tried some suede cleaner and a brush but I think It's hopeless, the suede is completely matted over most of the wheel. Hmm, does anyone know where I could get it retrimmed?
