AMD says xbox 720 graphics as good as avatar

Wow avatar graphics and AI yet the same old rehash of ideas!

GTAVI or COD:9 or whatever !

Rather they came up with new ideas rather than shiny old ones.
 
Ah the pre console hype train, its starting all over again, remember the videos for games last time around? Kill Zone on the PS3 and PGR on the 360, the final products looked nothing like them, they looked great at the time but nothing at all like the videos

It's simple, a lot of people are stupid, and doubling the number is all they're capable of. They probably needed a calculator to work out 2*360 as well. :p
 
Next-gen games will not look as good as avatar. No buts, no ifs. They won't look anywhere near as good. That's just a fact. :)

Oh, and yeah pretty much what everybody else said. They really shouldn't make claims like that. We are so far away from that sort of processing power. You'd think they'd learn by now :p
 
I am not sure of the 360 GPU but the PS3 uses a cut down 7 series card. graphics cards today are atleast 3 times more powerful if not more.

It is gonna be a nice leap in performance once the software catches up. Although at first 1080p and AA will be nice. :p

God damn recession and the Wii for slowing down the release of new consoles. Damn poor people and casual gamers with their Kinect/move crap. :D

I think the word you might have been looking for is subjective. I don't think Avatar looks that good in general, that's my opinion on it.

Please, point out what's so "wildly inaccurate" about the NGP being capable of PS3 visuals?

There's nothing subjective about saying avatar is "poor by todays standards" Show me something that is standard today that surpasses it? as I've seen nothing

I didn't mean poor on the whole, there are a lot of scenes that are poor, there's quite a large difference between the quality of some scenes. In general though it's not anything particularly special about it in CG terms, a lot of it has done before, just as well.
