Upgrade or Sli for gtx460

Hello all

I recently installed my new i7 Sandybridge 2600k and I've got it running alongside my EVGA 460SC.

I'm just wondering what people would recommend as an upgrade for the 460?

I don't really need an upgrade, just a want really.

Is it possible to run SLi with two different brands of GTX460?

Or is it better to upgrade to a GTX5xx series card?

I've been looking at the GTX560, but graphics cards tend to confuse me a fair bit.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Ta.

I like to try my luck at 1920 x 1200, then drop it down until I can find a good compromise of gfx settings and res.

So far the i7 and the 460 are working well; but I'm looking for a game to give it a good thrashing. Might have to dust off Crysis.

I think a good test for it might be seeing how far I can push the settings on Metro 2033, as that used to run quite poorly on high specs with my old q6600.

So, if I've got a EVGA gtx460, can I put in another 460 from a different manufacturer. Or is that a no go?

Thanks for all the info thus far.

When you have insufficient vram you get considerably more lag spikes/stuttering.

For this reason I do not recommend putting 1GB cards into crossfire/SLI. A single GPU setup with 1GB vram is fine in most cases, but multi-GPU setup with 1GB vram per GPU can't be recommended.
