Hi guys,

I currently have a 32gb iPhone 4, it's been faultless but it now can't hold all my music and to be honest I rarely use it other than for sat nav, so I think it's a very expensive item to be wasted.

Soooo, I'm going to attempt to sell it on eBay. I will then buy an iPod, use that as main music device and just have a cheaper phone.

I will have about £180 to spend on a phone, I'd consider second hand if it got me a better phone.

Cheers

Once you take on all the seller fees and what not its a pretty fruitless exercise, In the end you will probably have a litte bit of money left in your pocket but its not worth it imo

£180 might get you a 2nd hand samsung galaxy S, wouldn't need the ipod though.

If his 32gb iPhone doesn't have enough space then a Galaxy S wouldn't either... although you could buy a load of 32gb Micro SD cards at £40 a pop, but it's kind of a pain in the arse switching cards if you want a certain song.

i doubt if you have over 32GB of songs that you choose certain one's, most likely to be on random.

also how many days worth is that? is there really a need for so many? i bet a lot of them are just filler, unless your a DJ or in music production, etc.

Keep it on topic but if I must defend myself, I have massive interest in music, i listen to a wide variety each day and often gone back to different albums I haven't listened to in months. So yes I want my music :)

I have loads of songs, usually on shuffle but quite often I'll want to listen to something in particular. They aren't mutually exclusive.

Clearly there is, otherwise he wouldn't have this issue... as for the amount it depends on the format. Could be as little as 800 if they're in FLAC, about 3,000 in high bitrate mp3.

Try and find an Xperia Arc for £200-250 if you can push it, that's a very decent phone and then you would have a nice camera, too.

If not, get a Motorola Defy or second hand Samsung Galaxy S/HTC Desire. If you like the look of Windows Phone 7, the Samsung Omnia 7 is a good choice at roughly this price range.

Seems a shame when people want such a massive amount of music on their phone, I would think 32GB is more than enough, but so be it.

Aye, the N8 isn't a bad option, especially if you find yourself using the camera often.

"32gb iPhone 4, it's been faultless but it now can't hold all my music and to be honest I rarely use it other than for sat nav"

N8 has free sat nav and its high quality, so yeah it fits the bill, he also stated he hardy uses his iphone so yeah, he doesnt want a gadget he wants a phone/sat nav but with the N8 he gets the best camera too.

He might find the software a bit horrible compared to his iPhone though, but he's been relatively vague so I don't know.

Just how good is the sat nav anyway? I need one and I was thinking to maybe get an N8 so I have the decent camera as a bonus, and I have a strange itch to try one out properly, I always have :(

How is your music encoded? Converting to reasonable quality OGG might be the way to go, over 32GB is just not practical for portable devices.
