Places to stay outside of Nottingham?

Looking at a short weekend break with my girlfriend. Can anyone suggest some cheap interesting places to stay further South with lots to do?

London is outside of Nottingham and is also further south. It also has lots to do.

Reason I ask is because we both moved from the north 5 months ago and have never really ventured further South

Go somewhere different then. Norwich and the surrounding Norfolk countryside is beautiful. The south coast will be packed full of fat English gits, eating a zinger tower burger on the beach and leaving the burger box on the sand, not bothering to put it in the bin. That and nice totty.
