So I kinda need a new one :p

Had the basic features before on my old set (720p, HDMI) but now I'm looking for the best TV for around £700 ish which is:

Preferably Plasma
50"
DLNA would be extremely nice
720p is fine
Freeview HD would be nice

USB/Wi-FI are a bonus

Any ideas?

And if you're wondering about the "bang" it was rather loud when I turned it on earlier and smelt of fumes/gas around the back! :O - TV is only about 2 years old too.

Did you not have any extra warranty on it ? if not id go to the retailer quoting the Soga, 2 years is very poor for item of that value tbh.

Yeah it was, just looking for advice for a replacement. I had a good deal with it because I know someone that works for the Indian retailer ;)

Not really a fan of LG. I've had a look at some Panasonic and Samsung ones, but was wondering if there was any particular model to look out for?

Bummer, at 2 years old you should SOGA on the retailer? Be worth checking with panasonic to see if it had the 3/5 year warranty as this was offered by many retailers around a couple of years ago. They may repair it anyway out of good will.

Richer Sounds are desperate for sales or at least the one local to me is at the moment, they will price match anything including online prices (does not have to include comparable warranty to get a price match like their policy seems to indicate) if they have it in stock. Their year warranty is also very good @ 10% of purchase price.

Check out some of the LG plasma for that money. 3D & 1080p in budget.

Main thing is get down to an AV retailer like RS or Sevenoaks with a propper demo room to try a load out. You will never get a good feel for them in the big open plan stores.

well if you can get a good deal again smething like a 50G30 would be a good replacement, it has dlna, freeview hd and its 1080p so fits the bill.
