Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum and could do with a little help on choosing a new monitor. I have £200 to spend on a screen that's going to be used mainly for gaming in 2D and maybe 3D in the future although 3D isn't a 'must have' for me. I have been looking at this product but I'm confused as to why it is so cheap for all the features it has to offer. Maybe because it only has DVI-D as an input?

Is this a decent screen or are there better offers for the price that i'm willing to pay?
If anybody could please help or give some advice it would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

I'm looking at that monitor myself. It may be cheap as its an older model and the resolution is only 1680x1050 where as all the new 3D monitors released now have the higher resolution of 1920x1080.

Thank you for your quick responses and thank you 'Rec' for pointing out the resolution difference as I wouldn't have noticed.
I have just looked at the LG and it looks like a good buy as you said 'beefybarn' so thanks a lot for that. Have you used the LG personally and if so, does it have adjustments eg. tilt or pivot and does it have good viewing angles? because I can't find any info on that in the description.

For ~ £200 you can't get a better monitor than this:

It was on this week only recently for £200 so maybe if you were to shop around...

£200 was around the number I had been looking to spend currently, and I have been leaning towards this one myself, though £229.99 seems quite rich for it. Hopefully we might see it revisit the This Week Only offer.

Does anyone know if OcUK are stocking the A03 revision of this?

Never used the LG but seems to get very good reviews. Have used the Dell, its a good screen but i did not like the anti glare coating on it.

After reading a few reviews I think that the 'LG W2363D' will suit me better especially with 120Hz refresh rate that I forgot to mention I wanted. I will read some more reviews before I rush into to buying anything.
Thanks again :)

I should've said that in my case gaming wasn't my only concern, if it were the LG would be more of a consideration for me. Didn't want to confuse the issue.

Let us know how it goes if you plump for it. :)

After more research last night, I found that using Nvidia's 3D glasses can cause eye fatigue. This has become more obvious to me now after reading more about the technology behind 3D vision (Shutter/Flicker) and this would be a 'No-Go' for me as I suffer from migraine's quite often. Although 3D vision doesn't appeal to me, 120Hz in 2D does as I am moving from CRT and have read bad things about 'Vsync' that's supposed to reduce screen tearing.
From the reviews that I've read in terms of 120Hz in 2D, more people seem to say that the 'Samsung 2233RZ monitor' gives better performance than other monitors in that price range. The 1680x1050 resolution will be good enough for my needs and the DVI-D only input doesn't really bother me.
Has anybody else used the 'Samsung 2233RZ' and if so, what are your thoughts on the 2D quality that it gives?
