Hi i have a ati hd5850 and in games like black ops it has a decent fps rate .
Well i bought one for my partners pc diffrent spec though than mine and her fps in game is like 10 or 16 max . So bad !!

Drivers up to date and its set just like mine but such a diffrence, Is that normal .
can a diffrent mobo and cpu make the fps drop like that ?
I dont understand it

hi . mines a

i know mines probly faster but can it affect the fps like that ?
would a better cpu make the diffrence as that one she as is quite crap ;-)

Black OPs is a poorly optimised POC that's highly CPU demanding. Most PC with CPU that is not a Quad-core would run that game poorly.

This is what a 5970 (basically around same speed as 5850 in Crossfire) frame rate is like, when paired with different CPUs:

This review is rather old, but should give you an idea why your GF's running the 5850 so poorly on Black OPs.

But Black OPs aside...if the CPU of your GF/s PC is not reasonbly fast, it would bottleneck the 5850 in other games too.

Depending on your budget, Athlon II X4 around £70, Phenom II X4 955BE around £85. But either should give double or more than the frame rate of which your GF's PC currently getting on the Black OPs on the 5850...
The Phenom II X4 955BE would be a better choice if you can afford, as the L3 cache it has (which Athlon II doesn't) would helps and provide more frame rates in games.

Hi got the amd Phenom II x4 955 BE .

Ran black ops loads better fps on her pc . But it judders or jidders what ever you call it in most games . What can cause that any ideas.
