Hi All,

A friend of mine upgrade his system to ATI, and offered me £80 to get his GTX295 (single pcb).

Now, I have a GTX570 and I was wondering, if the GTX295 will work as physx car or not.
Maybe any way to pass any other type of rendering to it to boost performance?

Thnx

Yes it will work, but it's the most ridiculous overkill I've ever heard of. A dedicated physx card makes a marginal difference to performance at best, so if you're going to do it, a cheap 8800gt or something is more than adequate. The heat output and power draw of a 295 just makes it an insane choice for the job.

in fact the 295 will likely be more powerful than your 570 in a lot of games!

GTX295 is a waste of time for PhysX IIRC it will only use one half of the card i.e. roughly GTX275 for PhysX.

gtx295 will work as a physx card but as other had pointed out it overkill plus 295 will drawing more power out of you psu so it your psu can't handle it, you might end up killing your psu. i had a old pny 9800gtx 512mb sitting doing nothing so i slap that in a physx only so that my gtx285 isn't doing both. if i was you i get a 8000/9800gtx or a 430 card all can be bought for under £60 they draw less wattage than the gtx295. becareful i heard that not all the 8000 serise card support physx completely.

gtx 295 is faster if you dont care for DX11 and only play at 1080 :D

not saying he should swap it as its old tech/hot/high power draw just when i had my 275 sli set up its benchmark rsults where a lot higher than my 470 at stock clocks aqnd a 570 is just a 470 with an extra set of cuda cores
