after 2 x 120mm case fans ...must be quiet as currently no noise comes from tower in idle

ive been told Yate Loons but thought I would ask around

thanks

For me, for the price of them, Yate Loons are some of the best fans you can get, perform great when undervolted as well.

i love my arctic f12's

One way to make case fans very quiet is to use good quality PWM fans attached to the CPU fan socket through a powered PWM splitter, for example http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-031-AK.

so you cant control fan speeds from motherboard when connected to SYSFAN1 or 2 etc?

so i need one of those splitters with the CPU and TWO fans attached and they will speed up with the CPU fan? - and I need PWM fans? or does any fan work with them?

Enermax T.B. Silence fans are pretty quiet I seem to remember, don't shift much air though.

That's always the problem. If you want near silence you basically don't get a lot or airflow. Don't go mental and spend £20 on a fan but by the same token don't buy a £2 fan.

If you don't want to use a fan controller then buy fans with <1000rpm.

If you do use a fan controller then you can go a bit faster.

Beware that fast fans of 2000rpm may not undervolt to speeds that slower fans can achieve.

Depends on the motherboard, but in most cases you would need to adjust the speed manually, either in the BIOS, or with a program such as SpeedFan.

The powered PWM splitter is a much neater solution as it allows you to transmit the PWM signal from the 4-pin CPU fan header to three fans (one will obviously be the fan on the CPU cooler). The other two fans should be PWM fans, as well (with 4-pin connectors). They will spin up to the same percentage of their max rpm as the CPU fan. The additional molex connector on the PWM splitter will make sure that the CPU fan header is not overloaded.

your talking 4+ quid each for the f12's people, and i rate themn through the roof, best fans around imo, check out the 9 bladed impellor. and they are silent as hell, excellent cooling even at low rpm's, and its not like they dont maxout at 2500

they do, lmao, you should see the air they push then!

ive sent email asking my dad which he would prefer 2 x PWM with adapter or just 2 x Yate Loons... from my looking PWM fans start from £9 each

ive told him the fans are about £10 each and £4 for CPUFAN adapter.. hopefully he will choose this one, can anyone recommend two 120mm quiet PWM fans for about £10 each~?

thanks

I am also in the market for some new case fans to replace the stock fans on my CM-690 II.

2 x 140mm
1 x 120mm

I have them controlled through the mobo and can switch them all off when idling. it is just when it gets warm and I game that they really start to make a noise like a small hoover.

Been looking for months now. Still no idea what to get.
