Fat Cat boss gets £500,000 golden goodbye.

I think the real reason people get so aggy over these sorts of things is because they a jealous and/or are in a crap job themselves.

Nail on head.

We are, very thankfully, not a communist or socialist country. People at or near the top of their professions get paid well. Stop complaining about it and try to get there yourself, then when you get your £500k bonus you can (I would be extremely surprised if anyone actually did this) give it to the poor. Who are probably chavs who claim benefits who you also complain about.

It's not about been jealous for me it's seeing the greed in the UK that there is and UK itself is been crushed by fat cats getting fatter.

There are no laws or rules that say you cant earn what they do. These people are paid by company's because that is what they think they are worth, and if a company owner earns millions they have earnt it by creating a company that can generate that sort of money.

What exactly have these fat cats crushed? I bet they pay more in tax than most people earn ;)

Look at the state of the economy world wide. These type of people are people who should know what they are doing not causing world crashes like this. No1 is worth 500K payoff to leave a company no matter how much is been made. That's pure greed especially the unions as what's stated in this first post!

Why not? If I single handedly made a decision or formed a process that earned/saved a company £x million (this does happen), I'd want a representation of that.

A £500k pay-off is not causing a world crash. It is nothing.

No it's not greed, it would have been part of his employment contract which is all part of the value placed on him by the employing company.

How have big earners contributed to the crash? Without them our economy would be in all kinds of bother. Perhaps you should get a basic knowledge of economics befor making silly statements ;)

Times by how many people are getting this, course it's a cause. The money could be used elsewhere that would be more suited.

How many people are getting this? Where would it be used elsewhere?

If you were in his position you would not be on the same side of the fence. It isn't greed, it's knowing how our economy works and taking advantage of it.

No issue.

Also, 'Fat Cat boss', really? Like some crap headline from the tabloids.

I think you (and indeed many other posters it seems) have missed the (not so) subtle humour in the original post. The article is about a union general secretary leaving and getting a massive payout. The same sort of massive payouts that the unions are normally at the front of the line decrying with such terms as "Fat Cat". The OP is a satire of that sort of headline.

I understand the article I just happened to think the OP was serious!

I take it back if he was just highlighting the irony.

Shock horror as man takes money over morals!

A Union leader taking a payout is as much of a non issue as the 'Fat Cats' taking payouts that the unions oppose. The satire would work if the Fat Cat CEO payouts were an issue, but they aren't, so it doesn't.

So it's OK to rip people off is it and just take their money and run? Do you think that's fair? This person probably did very little work just like most of the fat cats who sit there and get others to do their work for them! I'm not saying all but most of them do, I see it in most if not all businesses.

More suited? So we shouldn't be honouring people's contracts, I suppose we shouldn't reward success either should we?

Theres a difference between a bonus of a small amount to reward success not this amount in question. It's half a million pounds for crying out loud.

Also "£51,000 in housing benefit and car allowances. " This guy should NOT be entitled to it.

Everyone saying its no big deal?

If I was in a union I would be pretty ****** that they are creaming that much off the top for supposedly representing people when infact they just want to feather their own pockets and suggest strike action to ensure they stay in their jobs
