Bought a creative sound blaster X-Fi Titanium HD soundcard & now i'm looking for some headphones for gaming & listening to music.I don't really want a gaming headset i would prefer separate headphones & mic.So if anybody could recomend me what to buy with a budget of around £150? maybe a bit more at a push.

Thanks.

I see, there's a few things to consider with headphones such as open or closed, sound signature (tonal balance), amping requirements (will you be using just X-Fi?) and also comfort.

I guess you'll probably need some sort of all-rounder that does well with many genres and is good for gaming. I'd say look into the Beyer DT880 Premium or Sennheiser HD598. They are slightly over budget though. Slightly cheaper you've got the HD558 (£140, open) or DT770 Premiums (£160, closed-back)

Prefer closed,comfortable & i'll be using the X-Fi card.

In that case, the DT770 would be a good choice as it is closed and comfortable.

There is the Pro 80ohm version which is £130, but has a V-shaped sound with bloated bass, slightly pronounced treble and recessed mids/vocals. The Premium versions are more balanced sounding overall, but are slightly more expensive at £160. Also they are probably not as easy to drive straight from the soundcard as the Pro version.

So these ones "Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO Closed Back Headphones 80Ω" also are these anygood aswell "Audio-Technica ATH-M50 Closed Monitor Headphones Coiled Cable"

Thanks.

Yeah, "Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO Closed Back Headphones 80Ω" is the one.

The ATH-M50 is decent enough for music, but doesn't do so well for competitive gaming IMO. Shameless plug, but I'm selling an M50 on the MM for £80.

The SRH840 will be "flatter" or more balanced than the DT770 Pro/80. So they might be more suitable for a wide range of music.

Well in the end i bought the Shure SRH840 headphones & also a FiiO E9 (Was on special @ £59.99) and to be honest i couldn't be happier :D

That's good. What do you think of them sonically?

Sonically they are exactly what i was looking for, bass is excellent but not overpowering and the mids & highs are perfect.Never thought i would find a set of headphones that i would be happy with.

That's great. I've not heard any Shures myself. The neutral/studio monitor sound sig has always put me off somewhat, but the 840s do get lots of a good reviews for being well balanced.

I have a pair and use them with an E7 and love them. I am glad you are happy with your purchases. :)
