Internet Debates

Well I think we would all have an opinion on a lot of the stuff posted. We just may not be as informed as others so that we look to google to back up our points. Personally I don't think I have googled anything in order to give an answer in GD or the music forum really but a lot of the problems from General Hardware are solved by google. There are a few review/benchmark websites which the OP may not know about so I use these to create an answer for them. I don't see why I shouldn't take part in the thread if I am not sure on something and have to check.

EDIT: I appear to have slightly misunderstood the thread despite the fact I read the OP I was swayed by the picture from post 2. Apart from reviews, I don't tend to take my opinions from others but then, I can't own every processor to see which one actually performs the beat whereas a reviewing site can

Even when you talk or discuss somethign on here people will usually think "oh hes quoting xyz" anyway so I find the whole thing rather tedious.

Yes Brian8bit said it pretty much spot on, I recently posted on another help forum for a VM internet fautl and some Random guy decided.. I was wrong VM never have faults, His was working perfectly in another part of the country. How can you even begin to talk to people like that ?

I can't find the Motors post, but there was an excellent one on this subject.

Basically [tw]fox posted a list of some guys posts, and then below it the relevant Wikipedia articles, the guys posts were pretty much identical, but just written in his own words.

Was loltastic.:D

I'm not talking about helping people out or answering people's questions, I'm talking about when people are debating (such as the recent fuel thread) and coming out with a whole load of facts and figures as though they're from personal research.

I realised this and edited, sorry for misunderstanding

No problemo. www.lmgtfy.com has become one of my most used sites to real-life friends who ask me stuff. :)

That'll be awkward eye contact with the IT department staff in the canteen then?

Yeh I have to avoid them daily for this reason.

I could stop looking at junk on the net at work... but the element of risk makes the days a little more exciting!
