Fat Cat boss gets £500,000 golden goodbye.

I can only dream that one day I will get to throw all my morals out the window for a big fat cheque. Morals don't buy a yacht to spend your retirement floating around Med on.

If it was a banker the unions would be up in arms as ZOMG ALL BANKERS ARE EVIL AND HAVE NEVER DONE A DAYS HARD WORK, but as it's one of their own it's fine .

I don't care about the money, I care about the hypocrisy that seems to be a requirement at the top end of trade unions. Massive pay offs, pension contributions bigger than your workers average annual earnings, taking council housing when you earn £150k a year, free accommodation for life...

It seems to me that the biggest exploitation of workers these days is within the trade unions who claim to be helping them...
This.

This.

It's the unions job to say this though? This man was paid to say and do things like this because that is what his job was. I think you will find very very few people do a job because they feel some moral obligation, if the money was not there I doubt that man nor his successor would rake the position.

Unions are a company as well, therefor the bosses tend to get paid more etc...

If it was my job to say "buying computers gives you aids" I would but it defiantly wouldn't stop me using one.

I also don't see the problem?

If someone has worked all the way to the top of the hierarchy, and earns X salary, whether that be £30,000 or £300,000, what exactly is wrong?

Seems like a hint of jealousy.

because this person has spent years saying how bonuses are wrong the bankers are ripping of his union members, the government should stop things like this etc?

Go one now did you even read the article or look at who it was talking about?

I don't see the problem, just feel sorry for the Union members who don't realise that the ones at the top don't actually give a stuff about them.

I didn't bother.

I just made a terrible assumption that it was the usual drivel consisting of "blame the bankers, paid too high, blah blah" that the general public seem to churn out on a daily basis.

Not sure what the problem with that is - successful people will get prosperous handshakes.

while the union members they claim to be 'in touch with' live in hovels and eat biscuits with weavils in. Yes I see how that one works. Up with the socialist workers party where the bosses eat caviar , say they feel the pain of workers and then get paid off for doing nothing.

Jesus and people say the evil satanic right wing cult of the bankers was bad, at least they never purported to be something they weren't, they were arogant capitalist right wingers and they let us know. Where as these union left wing militant bosses are more like brutus, they claim to be the workers friend to their faces while burying a hatchet between their shoulderblades !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not about been jealous for me it's seeing the greed in the UK that there is and UK itself is been crushed by fat cats getting fatter.

This is exactly NOT the reason the UK is being crushed, for hundreds of years now its the fat cats paying 50% tax on massive business profits that have paid for EVERYTHING in this country.

The "fat cats" pay for the NHS, roads, government, everything. This is how the world grew to what it was today.

Whats crushing the UK now? Fat Cats being punished more and more severely causing them to move, to move jobs abroad which moves profits elsewhere rather than here. Over taxing the reach simply causes the rich to move, NOT the UK to get more money.

For realistically 3-4 decades, but with massive acceleration in the past decade, its pushing rich business's, rich people, jobs, and manufacturing abroad which is killing our economy, this is both, largely Labour enforced, largely Union backed, and completely ridiculous.

Labour merely panders to less well off people by telling them the rich are to blame, while hurting the rich, which hurts the poor, but the poor people still go on blaming the rich because its easier and they are told thats who is to blame.

The hypocrisy which people seem to be missing is, the Union leaders who are a massive force behind Labour(and currently the ONLY reason Ed Miliband became the leader) are the ones going around targeting the rich, complaining and striking, yet taking the same huge paychecks for themselves while their members lose jobs.

Only £500,000 severance? How generous of him.

Want someone to hate for the turmoil in the UK? You can partially blame this guy:

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2003/03/24/the_price_of_failure_35m/

He was responsible for 80% of all government IT contracts in the UK, and ****ed them up with his company policies, meaning ALL of them were a massive failure. He virtually raped employees by converting pensions from final salaries to purchase schemes (that's not the rapey part, this next bit is...) whilst he kept his own pension as final salary.

The bill to kick him out? $35 million.

The rest of the blame? On this guy:

Private Pensions halved overnight, whilst public pensions inflate.
Sells Gold Reserve whilst gold is at it lowest price in history - instantly dropping the value of the pound. (Which, in my opinion, he did not just out of pure incompetence but because if he didn't, we'd be in an even bigger **** state than we are now - i.e., there was no alternative because he'd already spunked the entire cash reserve)
Manufactures a ludicrously complex tax system with so many loopholes that the "top tax payers" are actually, relatively, paying f-all to what they should be.
Because of overly complex tax system, admin charges are through the roof.
Conjures up 600,000 public sector jobs that just weren't necessary.
etc.

whets that got to do with this guys hypocrisy.

"whets" it got to do with the hypocrisy? Nothing, it's got everything to do with partially blaming someone for the turmoil in the UK though. As it said in the post. Duh.

And £500k for a severance? that's going to be what? 2 years salary? It's nothing.
