X3 terran conflict - Acquiring my first Freight ship and capturing

Why did it get such mixed reviews with a bias towards 'not so good'?

Because the reviewers are stupid, they play all games as if they are console games and expect every thing to be given to you on a plate and the whole game to be completed within 7-8 hours.

As a new player 7-8 hours is just enough time to get you familiar with the controls.

If starting for the first time and want some semblance of a tutorial, Terran Defender.

I started first as Humble and didn't have the foggiest what was going on. Got there eventually but then started a Terran Defender as well and it explained so much!

Just do not start a Custom game. This isn't even what it sounds like (it sounds like "don't like any of these start characters? Make your own!"), it's just a "dump you in space and do what you want" and the plot missions are disabled.

Got about 27 Mil in the bank but im saving up for a gorgeous cerberus, i got a nice SPP going in omicron lyre thats earning me about 200K a hauler trip so about 500K an hour-ish i think, i got 3 Sector traders in ore belt but i dont see them doing a lot :( taking ages to level up, probably because i put 3 of them in there though :D

And whats the deal with the Argon and ATF, ATF keep sending fleets of ships into Argon space but they only seem to kill Boron stuff :(

or Lost Lar for the hardest :D

Personaly i love the Poisoned Parinid start, Nothing like trying to make 25mill in as short as time as possible. My best so far is about 7 hours :D

What even for someone that has never played the game before?

If you haven't played before you wont have the lost lar or poisoned parinid starts they need to be unlocked.

Lost Lar - you start out in a Boron angle in a xenon core sector, you have to travel through 3 xenon sectors to escape. The ship is under equipped with no fight software under gunned and slower than most the xenon that want you dead.

Poisoned parinid, you start with a TL and 3,633 Cr in a parinid sector. The parinid hate you so first you must escape to safe space. Once safe you are told if you can raise 25million in 1days you can get your ship back (overtuned Hyperion)

That's... what... half an hour mobile mining nvidium? ;) :D :p

Might give that start a try one of these days, REALLY want a Hyperion (been looking for one to "acquire" on my main Terran).

Guys which character do you recommend I start playing as?

Terran defender, mild tutorial and you get very good rewards towards the end.

They sound rediculas, do you actually get your ship back or did they say that because the devs thought it wouldn't be possible?

Well i would only be 5min boarding a cap ship....

I suggest you try it, even with the mobile mining exploit it will be hard to beet 7 hours. The record is about 5 hours.

Sorry i made a mistake you have 24hrs not 48.

Yes if you can make 25million in time you get a overtuned hyperion, and an overtuned m3.

And yes it is very possible, ive done it in about 7 hours and the record is 5.

From ship capping? Where did you do that :S. Just watching CdrDave's lets play and he's doing a pirate start and managed to cap two minstrel XL's right at the start so that's an easy 2mil in 10min.

:EDIT:

Just discovered hitting ctrl does auto attacking so you don't have to aim. Did not know that.

Do it, I've not played a game that hooked me like this since BF2 and that was like 6 years ago!

I realise the reason why this game hooks me is because of the learning curve. Easy noobed down games bore me so badly.

Aye it's wonderful!
Obviously you have to have the crosshair in the general vicinity of the baddie but it's a lot better than manual. :)

Last time I played (few weeks ago) I was exploring to discover every sector.
I had my beef/meatsteak complex churning out 200K/hour and on my travels I kept an eye out for € ships/shipyards.
Word of advice, NEVER buy a ship if it's 90%+ Hull, it WILL be more expensive than buying a brand new one!
Made about 45mill on my travels (about two evenings of play) without doing any missions.

I've now only got 6 sectors undiscovered, all of which are big Xenon sectors or behind said big Xenon sectors.

You are all tempting me to start this again!

Do it you know you want to :D

A mixture of ship capping, trading and missions.

1)Acquire an m3 usually a curtain split mamba, the PBE make capping easy :D.

2)Use the starting TS to remote trade while i sit and capture every parinid ship i can find.

3)Get a jump drive and do any assassination missions that i come across.

Not only can i make proffitttss fast but its fun capping or killing every parinid i see (they hate me so i hate them :D)

Think it's probably very handy for joy stick flying. I might give the joy stick another go, not sure.

I've only ever seen one of them and it was 100% hull so I didn't buy it. Just get so unlucky with those missions. Yesterday I made a quick 5mil (a lot to me) from doing a few high paid assasination missions and now can't find any more of them either.
