Would you let your wife (or partner) drive your car?

I would love the missus to drive mine, as it saves me giving her lifts all the time. But she wants something smaller.. oh well, nice excuse buy a Mini aswell :)

To be frank, my mrs is only on the insurance for a) emergencies and b) saves me money on the premium :D

My lady has driven my car (mr2 turbo) loads of times, we even used it as our only car for a couple of months so she would often take it out on her own. She's a very good driver and has been driving a few more years than I have.

So you chaps that won't entertain the thought, is that because you're very precious and paranoid or that your girlfriends are completely inept and a danger?

Yeah I would let my GF drive my car if she was insured on it.

Her dad owned a big bit of waste land when she was younger and her and her brothers had a couple of old cars they used to play about in.... I found this out after she climbed out of my friends turbo'd mx5 which she had just drifted around my dads lockup in, a seriously surreal moment, not least for my rather green looking mate!

Of course I do, it is only a car and she is unlikely to trash it.

That said she won't take it into her work underground car park because she says that it is too long

I have done before and would do again, lent her one of my cars for a week when she needed it, otherwise its just driving home from having dinner out or similar. I can drive her car and she can drive mine.

I tried to steer her away from driving my Rover turbo as it wasn't the best for someone to drive, harsh suspension and a penchant for turbo lag, I had visions of her flooring it to get out of a junction and it then torque steering towards a kerb.

She put my 306 GTI-6 into 5th instead of 3rd a few times and didn't want to reverse it off the tight drive as it was a bigger car but no harm done!

Missus doesn't like to drive the MINI because of the bucket seat and harnesses, limiting her view, and is doesn't like driving the Peugeot because "it's too big" and definitely doesn't like driving the Subaru because it's too fast, the clutch is too hard, and the car is too big.

Therefore she doesn't drive anything other than her Ka, which is WIN for me :D

i dont see why so many guys are afraid of girls driving their cars

i have even lent/borrowed (spelling) cars to female friends in the past, maybe the females i know are just a little more competent than most?

I taught my GF to drive in my Civic when it was brand new, never damaged it at all I have to say, now she drives a 1l old style micra, id still let her drive my car anytime she wants without hesitation.

Having watched a friend shove her dads 1 week old punto right in to a hedge down a country lane to let a 4x4 past rather than just waiting/reversing she won't be allowed anywhere near my car or bike other than in the passenger seat or on the back. The wingmirrors have also been knocked off/out/smashed more times than I can remember.

No....

I bought my girlfriend a Punto so she didn't need to use my car. She crashed the Punto with in 3 weeks.

My missus brought the insurance on the 330i down from £800 to £500.. Would be mean not to let her drive it!
