TVCatchup.com wins its case against the broadcasters

That's good news, don't have a TV in my room so tend to use this site when wanting to watch TV. Good to read it's not going anywhere :)

Never even new about this channel. Pleased I do now though as the signal where I live is terrible for the tv unless you have sky

Very good news, I often use TVCatchup!

TBF they didn't really have a case, TVC report viewing figures and you can't skip the advert so the broadcasters don't lose anything!

Brilliant news, just hope I have a good 3G reception for Friday f1 practice.
Brilliant service, what do you do there?

Can't wait for the record function, please please please, include that feature in iPad app.

IIRC it's not as clear cut as TVCatchup have stated - the broadcasters are also declaring a victory, and a large part of the case has actually been referred to the EU high court/is awaiting an EU court ruling on another case to determine the outcome of some points.

I personally can't quite see how some of TV catchup isn't breaking the law, but can see how some other parts are probably fine.

The broadcasters will always put a spin on things and the EU court ruling is ONLY on 12.5% of the channels, which most likely will be approved, let me explain.

If you take 100% of the channels that are TVCatchup, take away 70% of the channels that have been ruled perfectly lawful, this leaves 30%.
Of what is left, 17.5% of the channels have the consent of individual broadcasters.
This leaves 12.5%, of the channels that are awaiting judgement from the EU court.

So even if TVCatchup receives a negative judgement on the 12.5% of the channels it will remain unaffected, as it will just remove these channels.

edit

newmediaage removed their article this morning as they realised that it was totally inaccurate, hopefully others will now and start reporting the truth instead of spin.
