Someone's put a nice dent in the rear panel of my poor girl!

The estimates I've had thusfar are all around £1500 which I fear - according to an insurance company's book - will be too high to merit repar.

So, does anyone know a cheap body repair place near Marlow/High Wycombe?

Owned her 17yrs, and would seem daft to have to write her off due to a poxy dent!

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but if you are not at fault (and have a party that is at fault, rather than claiming off your own insurance for a non-fault claim), and are claiming off the third parties insurance, you are entitled to have it repaired regardless of the cost.

Just tell them you don't want it written off.

If you are dealing with your own insurance company... why?

Yes I know someone, one man band out of his unit in his back garden but pretty damn good, he's in Basingstoke, if your interested I'll give him a call.

Someone closer would obviously be ideal, but I suspect that's the kind of thing I'm looking at. I'd love to get an estimate off him, at least even just a rough one!

Don't think it works that way...

Neither their or my insurance company will spend more repairing it than it's worth. Infact they probably won't spend more than about 75% of the value of the vehicle. And then the book value of my car (to them) is probably under £1000! When in reality, to get one like mine, would be twice that!

My only hope is to get a cash in lieu payment for the damage from the insurance company and then get it fixed at a small body shop myself!

I've just emailed him your photos for a circa quote, it won't be new panels, he'll probably pull it out and fill and paint.

Many thanks! I think pulling it out, and making good, is the only way for this to me feasible ££££ wise!

He reckons £700 - 800, I've just asked him if that would be new panels (probably not) and how much of the car would need blowing in, if you accepted just the 1/4 panel painting it would be cheaper but may be a shade out but may not be.

That sounds do'able! The insurance company might stretch to that as a payment in lieu!

And you recommend the quality of his work?

Could you PM me his details (email in trust)? At the least I'd like to know how long he'd need the car for etc!
