A £500 spec me

Hi everybody,

This isn't a serious spec me its just to see what £500 will get you these days.

I have a few requirements:

Lian Li PC-A05NB
It has to be that case.

I'd like it to be cool and quiet

and also contain an SSD with 2tb of storage

I don't game but an low-mid range card would be good I suppose

Little over budget which you could probably eliminate by going AMD but is a solid build I'd say. Did this quickly so there may be better for the money :p. Minus a tenner since you should get free delivery.

Again overbudget a bit but the newer Crucial M4 is a cracking drive and well worth it.

Too slow, although very similar to the one above.

The other cheaper option would go for AMD Llano A3850 (roughly on par with an Athlon II X4) as it has the GPU integrated on the CPU itself.

Personally I'd go for the i3 540/550, just because you could overclock it and also due to the two extra virtual cores.....

But then again the 1155 socket is newer and you have room to upgrade with it....that said though if you wanted an upgradable socket then I would wait on BD as amd have quite the history of using their sockets to death! :P
 
Why not drop the I3 and the graphics card on shadow boxers list and get the 2500k. It'd be about the same price and if you are lookin for a low/medium gpu it already has one built in.
