Are there any estate agents here!? (You dont have to admit it if you are;)) Im about to undergo a tenant check and rather concerned about what it might bring up jobwise. I was working full time until 2 months ago, since then I have done a couple of contract jobs (digital) but also periods of unemployment, mostly. I start another contract on Monday which could lead into a v long contract. However none of this is any good at all for a check up.

Im wondering what I should tell the estate agent - my 2 options are.. say Im still working at my previous company (ITV) or tell them Im contracting working at my new place? Can they actually check that you are working!? What does a tenancy check involve, its all very worrying!

When I had my tenancy check they required my employer to write a statement containing my position, salary and time employed.

They will contact your current employer to confirm you work there. If you are self employed you will need to provide a copy of your accounts for the last few months.

If they're not happy you may be asked to
a) provide a higher deposit
b) find a guarantor to cover your rent
