I didn't fully star out a swear word i put F then stars and i got a 2 day suspension which is lame.

So i would say yes...

You will find most abbreviations will be automatically starred anyway.

The FAQ is pretty clear on it though, you should fully star all swearing and don't use disguised swearing, you may think it's lame but at least there should be no doubt about what to do if you really want to use/indicate a swear word.

hux: if you're still in doubt (abbreviations are almost certainly in the category of disguised swearing) then feel free to email a moderator and ask them.

Yup - it would come under disguised swearing, or be seen as you trying to circumvent the swear filter.

while i remember it, the abbreviation of for the win is automatically starred out: ***

is there a good reason for this that im missing, or was it just in a list of swearies taken from somewhere else that this forum automatically stars out

However can you un star cockpit for the love of god, it's so annoying in the f1 and Motorsport threads. Then just use ban hammer when used on it's own.

Edit- how come it's no longer stared. Oh well good job.

Makes me laugh when it stars out things in the middle of words as it thinks it's a swear - someone earlier wrote about buying their girlfriend a "s****y" bracelet - I thought he'd put a rude word there but it turns out he meant sw + anky
